flat and ineffective
kastagne19 July 2006
Based on a play'Les Vignes Du Seigneur',this movie is the epitome of the lame French comedies of the 70's.the cast is surprisingly well chosen, with Jean Lefevre , Michel Galabru, Desmarets and Daniel Ceccaldi. Jean Lefebvre plays the usual spaniel and the rest of the cast tries to invigorate the plot;the typical ingredients of the comedy are all injected: the cuckold, goofs and mistakes, custard pies thrown in an elevator, the stiff Brit, people talking 'Javanais'( French back slang) but the result is disappointing. It may have been a good play and it should have stayed this way.Even if some scenes may be funny, the result is tastelessness and flatness.
