A sheriff arrives in a little town and executes his own justice and vengeance against henchmen

Mediocre Spaghetti plenty of shootouts , familiar faces and noisy action . I deals with range wars between settlers and cattlemen . Set in Houstonville, Texas , where arrives a wayward deputy Marshal :Glen Sasxon who takes on nasty gunslingers and powerful local people as the Mayor : Renato Baldini and the villainous Alan : Nello Pazzafini who hire a tough gunfighter: Gordon Mitchell to smack down the poor farmers.

Regular Pasta Western with ordinary genre stars , in which the sheriff protagonist puts peace and order at a little town harassed by a corrupt Mayor and his hoodlums. The highlights of the movie are the creepy , thrilling hanging and the moving final during the Thanksgiving Day when takes place the ultimate confrontation full of attacks , shots , fights , and deaths . It stars Glen Saxson as a two-fisted and witful marshall , Glen played various Westerns as Django shoots first, The long day of the massacre , Go with God Gringo, Magnificent Texan , though he also played Adventures as Luana, Kriminal and Return of Kriminal . Costars the ugly and hunk Gordon Mitchell playing a pistolero nicknamed Mule or Donkey , he essentially performed Peplum as Ira Achille, Atlas in land of Cyclops., Brennio il enemigo di Roma, Erik the Viking , Julius Caesar against pirates , Battle of Corinth , Giant of metropolis ; but also he made a lot of Spaghettis as Django and Sartana, Arizona Kid , Rita in the west , John il Bastard , Thompson1880 and usually working for Demofilo Fidani. Support cast is pretty good filled with Ravioli habitual faces as the ordinary baddie Nello Pazzafini , John Bartha as a farmer , Philippe Hersent as a deputy , Spartaco Conversi as a sheriff , and Renato Baldini as a malicious Mayor who wants to evict the settlers to take their lands.

It displays a functional and atmospheric cinematography by Fausto Rossi. As well as an evocative Spaghetti score by Lallo or Coriolano Gori . The motion picture was regularly directed by Alfonso Brescia or Al Bradley. He was an uneven craftsman with a long career who directed several films in all kinds of genres in low budget. As he made Adventure : Ator the iron warrior , Zana Bianca, Amazon women against the Supermen, Loves of Don Juan ; Sci fi : Cosmos, Stars battle; Pepum : Magnificent gladiator, Conqueror of Atlantida, La rivolta dei Pretoriani; WWII : Kill Rommell , Mision arenas ardientes, Hell in Normady .And of course Spaghetti Western such as Winchester Bill, Killer caliber 32, Law of Colt , Days of violence and this Carogne si nasce.

One of Alfonso Brescia's better movies

Warning: Spoilers
CRY OF DEATH is a somewhat low key and underrated spaghetti western of 1968. It was directed by Alfonso Brescia, a director hardly known for the quality of his work, but I found it one of his better productions: it has a brisk pace and lots of conflict and violence to see it through. The plot depicts a wide reaching war between dirt farmers and the lawless cattle men who strive against them, and it features Glenn Saxson as the usual lawman who comes to clean up the town. The shoot-outs in this film are well handled with some strong editing to see them through, and the best part for me was the presence of the great Gordon Mitchell in a really good, if small, role, playing the typical dressed-in-black gunfighter.

And what a boring war it was

Warning: Spoilers
The fight between farmers and animals breeders, causing lots of death, is manipulated by a shady customer who's trying to take possession of the lands. Two brave and able federal marshal will clear away all the evil troublemakers, giving back order and peace to the two fighting parts. Really lacking western, with no originality and unable to join even the least entertainment level requested by this kind of picture. Under the non-existent direction of Alfonso Brescia (otherwise a decent craftsman good for all genres ("Turn... I'll Kill You", 1967) - play with complete carelessness a bunch of character actors, leaded by the inexpressive Glenn Saxson ("The Long Day of the Massacre", 1968 by Alberto Cardone)and Gordon Mitchell, an usual presence in plenty low budget Italian movies ("Coffin Full of Dollars", 1971 by Demofilo Fidani). Surprisingly, a relevant personality like Aldo Lado (director of movies like "The Child", 1972 and "Last Stop on the Night Train", 1975) got involved in such a worthless mess.
