Cute...

Well, one of the best, a criticism of the brutality of the cangaço, the little boy (João Batista de Souza) was more brave than many male goats, cute... In this one he treats his wife a little better, it bothered me deeply in the other films, Geny Prado is cute, and always playing Mazzaropi's mate ...

Silly and Corny, Indicated for Fans of Mazzaropi Only
claudio_carvalho22 April 2006
After being deceived by a small time crook with a promise of a job for his family, Bernardino Jabá (Amácio Mazzaropi), his wife Marcolina Jabá (Geny Prado), their two sons, their daughter and their Spanish friend are mistaken as being "cangaceiros" (bandits from the Northeatern of Brazil). They help the police to arrest the outlaws, but Bernardino Jabá misses and is considered dead. When he returns to the small village one year later, the locals believe that it is his soul indeed.

Amácio Mazzaropi was a successful popular comedian along four decades. Brought from the beginning of television in Brazil to the cinema by Vera Cruz studios, he was very popular in the lower classes with his humor. This is the first movie of Mazzaropi that I watch, I tried not to have prejudice, but I really do not like this type of silly and corny story. Further, the film shows a betrayal, which I do not accept even in a comedy. The title, "O Lamparina" means "The Small Night Lamp", and is a joke with the name of the most famous "cangaceiro", "Lampião" (which mean "Large Lamp"). This movie is indicated for fans of Mazzaropi only. My vote is four.
