The first editing of the film run six hours, then reduced to 63 minutes. Only in 2017, during the Festival "Il Cinema Ritrovato" of Bologna, Romano Scavolini presented a director's cut of 79 minutes, taken from a 2k scan of the original 16mm negative.
It was the famous writer Alberto Moravia who suggested the director that he reduced the movie to one hour. Moravia also advised him to add some dialogues that "explain" the inexplicable murder committed by the protagonist.
The last shot of the film is an image in super 8mm that shows the famous Italian comedian Pippo Franco, on the day of his marriage with actress Laura Troshel, who was part of the cast.
