India’s biggest celebration of music, The Global Indian Music Academy (GiMA) has unveiled its most illustrious nominee list for the year. Only the most outstanding in the industry have the honor of receiving a GiMAnomination, with only the finest getting a chance to walk awaywith the most coveted music award in India- the GiMA award.
For the film category, Bajirao Mastani bagged the maximum nominations by receiving a nod in nine categories. Following closely with seven nominations is the super hit movie Tamasha and Roy with six.

Mumbai, April 15: From the time she sang "Ghar jayegi tar jayegi doliyaan chadh jayegi" for Gulzar in "Khushboo", Asha Bhosle has shared a very special rapport with her Gulzar bhai who has been named for the coveted Dadasaheb Phalke Award. She feels it has gone to the "very deserving artist".
"When I see how far he has come in his life, I feel happy. The Dadasaheb Phalke Award honours a very deserving artiste this year," she said expressing great joy at Gulzar's latest recognition.
"As I speak to you, I remember all the beautiful songs Gulzar bhai has written for me - 'Mera kuch samaan' in 'Ijaazat', 'Yeh saaye hain' in 'Sitara',.

Veteran film lyricist, director, screenwriter, producer and poet Gulzar has been conferred the 45th Dadasaheb Phalke Award for the year 2013.
The award is conferred by the Government of India for outstanding contribution to the growth and development of Indian Cinema. It consists of a Swarn Kamal (Golden Lotus), a cash prize of Rs.10 lakhs and a shawl. The award was decided on the recommendations of a seven-member jury set up by the Government for this purpose.
Born in 1934 in Punjab in pre-independence India, Gulzar started his career in 1956. As a lyricist, he got his first break in Bimal Roy’s Bandini. He has worked with leading music directors including Sachin Dev Burman, Salil Chowdhury, Shankar Jaikishan, Hemant Kumar, Laxmikant-Pyarelal and Madan Mohan. He has had outstanding partnerships with Rahul Dev Burman, A. R. Rahman and Vishal Bhardwaj.

The upcoming Ladakh International Film Festival (Liff) will host a Retrospective on poet, lyricist and director Gulzar curated by filmmaker Vishal Bharadwaj. The Retrospective will screen Mere Apne, Achanak, Ijazat, Khushboo, Angoor and Machis.
The festival will held in Leh, Ladakh from July 5-7, 2013. It will be inaugurated by Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, Omar Abdullah and I&B Minister of India Manish Tiwari will be the Chief Guest for the closing ceremony.

That 2012 began with an overwrought hyper-melodramatic brutal and tumultuous remake of Agneepath and ended with Yash Chopra’s muted mellow all-heart-no-malice ode to romance Jab Tak Hai Jaan seems indicative of the direction that Bollywood seems headed for.
