On October 9, 1946, three reviewers of the Motion Picture Division of the New York Education Department watched "La mulata de Córdoba" and recommended the state authorities to deny Clasa Films a license to exhibit the movie, for being "immoral", tending "to corrupt morals" and "to incite to crime". The motion picture was banned, but a later version was approved in 1948.
