Netflix is looking to tell authentic stories from various countries now that hit programming doesn’t need to come out of Hollywood alone anymore, Larry Tanz, vp, Europe, Middle East and Africa (Emea) content at the global streaming giant, said on Monday.
“Great stories really can come from anywhere,” the executive shared during an event for reporters and Netflix partners and stakeholders at the streamer’s European headquarters in Amsterdam. Until a few years ago, “to have something … successful creators felt like it had to be in English and had to go to Hollywood and sell it there,” Tanz said. The widely held thought was that “that was the only way,” he continued. “Everything has changed just in the last five years or so where you can film a series in Spain and get it made in Spain with our team in Madrid. And it is a global phenomenon. And...

While Hauser has been running a campaign of his own on "Alcatraz" (Mon., 9 p.m. Et on Fox), Madsen and Doc have been working largely in the dark. What little he does give them is often just tantalizing glimpses into what he knows. Viewers know that Lucy was a psychiatrist working on the Rock in the 1960s, where she first met a younger Hauser, as well as knowing all about Hauser's New Alcatraz and the modern-day presence of Dr. Beauregard.
With next week's two-hour season finale looming, the intrepid pair stumbled upon a key piece of the puzzle, though how much it will help them remains to be seen. Lucy has been a key figure since the beginning, but she's also been in a coma. Recently, Beauregard learned that the blood of a '63 that had been "treated" on Alcatraz may save her life, but they needed to find a match.

Finally, we got another glimmer of the '63's experience on "Alcatraz" (Mon., 9 p.m. Est on Fox). When Paxton Petty managed to disable Hauser by getting him to step on a bomb, it allowed Soto and Madsen a chance to learn more about these mysterious returnees than they'd ever been allowed to under Hauser's scrutiny.
In doing so, they found out that the prisoners don't seem to know how they got into the present any more than they do. There was no talk about the compulsions some of them have shown, but Petty seemed only interested in setting more of his bombs and blowing things up. And that's why Hauser was so interested in him.
Hauser was a police officer back in 1960 and he was assigned the Petty case, Apparently, there was one bomb they never tracked down, even though it has also subsequently never gone off. A point he assured Petty of,...

Giant snakes have been slithering their way through sci-fi and horror films for decades.
In Boa, TV Superman actor Dean Cain encountered a prehistoric snake woken from hibernation in the Antarctic, while Jennifer Lopez battled a writhing whopper up the Amazon in Anaconda.
Arnie wrestled with a scaly giant in Conan the Barbarian; genetic experiments caused supersize reptiles in Komoda vs Cobra; and in Snakes on a Train (inspired, of course, by Snakes on a Plane) a cursed passenger released serpents from her body before finally turning into the gigantic mother-of-all-monsters that devours the entire locomotive.
Well, if that wasn't enough to get you hissing, reach for the anti-venom and brace yourselves for Lockjaw, starring rapper Dmx (pictured right) and released on DVD by Metrodome on May 10.
A voodoo curse, thought buried in the mists of time, reignites the fanged horror of the infamous Kulev Serpent - the gargantuan 'Lockjaw'.
