Excellent teen movie to watch with the whole family or a girlfriend

I have to say that I liked the movie a lot. This movie is similar to "Cant buy me love" with Patrick Dempsey. Most of the cast Male and Female are good looking for example Carlos character reminded me a lot like Tom Welling from Smallville shy and having trouble to take the leap.

I mainly watch this movie after seen Elsa Pataky on "Ninette" and wanted to see other films where she has worked before. Cant wait to see Santos.

Diana (played by Elsa Pataky) always has to be on top and this made a barrier to the character Carlos making it impossible to him to talk to her. Elsa gives life to Diana with her enchanted smile and perkiness.

Carlos (Played by Sergio Peris-Mencheta) couldn't find the way to break the ice with Diana buy his friend Polilla (Played by Vanessa Sáiz)help him on his quest.

Less is More But There Have Just Been Too Many of This Kind of film

Warning: Spoilers
Pascal Jongen's 'Menos es Más' is the typical highschool/college romance flick that was popular in the 80s and 90s before they became loaded with toilet humour post 'American Pie'. Perhaps it's most similar to Howard Deutsch's 'Some Kind of Wonderful'. However, the execution is quite poor. It looks more like a TV series from the early 90s than a feature film. The film itself is riddled with cliché and I would have liked to see the romance develop between Polilla and Carlos (which is the key theme of 'Menos es Más').

The plusses: I liked that the setting involved an acting school and a theme park where many of the students play popular characters in order to earn money. I also liked that the Polilla character refused to change her looks in order to be 'more attractive'. This is one thing that goes against cliché because in a majority of other films of this genre, the female lead would go through a makeover to become a 'typical hot babe' in order to win the male lead's heart or whatever. I also thought, as clichéd as many of them were, the characters were likable. Perhaps this is mainly due to the acting. Both Sergio Peris-Mencheta and Vanessa Sáiz do a good enough job. Elsa Pataky's role didn't demand much of her so she easily pulled it off.

Overall, 'Menos es Más' has nothing novel to offer but it's interesting to see such a story in a Spanish setting and the actors make it quite watchable.

More of the same!!

There's not too much to say about a movie that is really a combination of so many repeated cliches, one after the other.

This is one of those two best friends stories where one of them has always had hidden love feelings for the other but is not corresponded like that due to a "super girl" that gets between them... and you should know the ending.

The movie itself does not have anything more than ordinary to show. Throughout the whole movie it just seems that you are in a film version of an MTV type of musical story or program or just another episode of dumb Latin soap operas.

The story is totally dull as well as the directing work of Pascal Jongen who does not make anything worth interesting. Finally, the acting performances are maybe the worst I've seen in my entire life.
