Saida a enleve Manneken-Pis review

Short comedy from Alfred Machin which is little more than a sequence of shots of a large number of people fleeing from the path of a leopard that has escaped from a fairground sideshow. To be honest, the leopard just looks like it wants to play...

Now That's What I Call A Chase Comedy!

Someone has stolen that statue of a little boy urinating into the fountain, so go look for that. Never mind that report of an escaped leopard.

Except of course, they can't, because that leopard turns up everyplace, and the only sensible reaction to it is to run away. Albert Machlin seems to have been the first prominent film maker in the Low Countries, and he made a lot of movies that involved wind mills, just as you might expect. He also made this very funny comedy with a trained leopard. I hope it was trained. If it's not playing with that stunt man, I hope the widow was well compensated.
