The Funny World of Lucy-The Early Years (1993) is a solid biography of the great Lucille Ball. The film follows Lucy's career from her years as a starlet to a movie star (but never a super star). The narrative ends after I Love Lucy began. As we all know, I Love Lucy made her a TV super star, and a national icon.
This biography does what it says it would do--give us information about Lucille Ball that we may not have known. It's a business-like job. OK, but not inspired.
The movie was made for television, so it works well on the small screen.
If you're a Lucy fan, you have to see it. If Lucy wasn't for you, pass it up.
There's a second volume to the Funny World series. I've already reviewed this for IMDb.
There aren't enough ratings to for an IMDb rating. I rated it 8.
