A fine French animated series that's now almost twenty years old. I was glued to the screen as a kid but, seeing it again I must say that it has withstood the test of time. Special mention must go to the design of the backgrounds and spaceships, they look excellent. The music too, it wouldn't look out of place in a movie...

The last couple of episodes tell about a great war between Omega and all powerful humanoids, a big Star Wars type ending to the series. Watch it - or buy it on DVD (only in French though...)

A wonderful series indeed

I've always loved the 'Il Etait Une Fois' series, and I've been squealing with joy for the past two years because some of these classics have been published as a DVD box here in Finland. I just finished watching this series on DVD. At first I was a bit sceptical, considering that this series went more towards sci-fi rather than an educational show wrapped up in a layer of lovely humor and truly golden comedy.

Strangely enough, it grew on me quickly, even though there are still some pretty laughable ideas (like presuming that every planet in the universe with life on it goes roughly through the same evolutionary stages, eg. the age of dinosaurs). However, those I can forgive because of the series is otherwise of stellar quality.

Kudos, Monsieur Barillé. Kudos.

I still have memories of this great animated series that was shown here in Sweden in the mid-80's. Good music too. In Sweden you can still buy 10 episodes that are dubbed to swedish but I must say I much prefer the original with french language and a text-translation at the bottom of the screen. I also believe there was 26 episodes. I really wish we could see this masterpiece on TV again.
