Sex & Nudity

  • After the first five minutes the rest of the film is pretty tame with just a few kisses shared between a (different) couple.
  • Early in the movie a woman takes her shirt off to reveal her breasts for a few seconds before she and her boyfriend have sex in a canoe. The man's bare buttocks can be seen thrusting briefly. Then the girl's breasts are seen again for several seconds.

Violence & Gore

  • Mutilated bodies at crime scenes and cadavers at the coroner's office are shown for lingering scenes. Not easy to eat while watching this movie.
  • A man is shot and killed off camera but we see his bloody body.
  • There's not much on-screen violence, other than a few gunshots. But we are often shown the aftermath of the creature's attacks.

Profanity

  • The f-word is frequently used and shit, goddamn, etc.
  • C-word, damn, etc.
  • Strong language for a comic book movie.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Smoking cigarettes.
  • Young people party and drink beer at a lake in an opening scene.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • We often see the bodies of Man-Thing's victims. These scenes can be pretty grisly and grotesque, as many of the bodies have been ripped and torn into, some with branches sticking out of them.
  • The Man-Thing creature is frightening, especially when it is moving around in the dark.
  • The movie takes places primarily in a dark swamp at night, with many spooky noises.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Violence & Gore

  • Man-Thing rips a mans arms and legs off, very gory scene, although not shown clean. It's set in a not well lit area of the swamp.
