Tommy Cooper was, and still is, fondly remembered by fans as a fine magician and comedian, a sentiment I largely agree with. With his hulking stature, loud cackle and trademark fez, he assured the affection of many fans with his clumsy persona. However, the worst thing he ever did was this feeble Thames Television series which looked as though it were filmed live from the same venue as LWT's 'Freddie Starr's Variety Madhouse', which although itself was sparsely amusing was a barrel of laughs compared to this forgettable enterprise.
I am not averse to a bit of Tommy Cooper but here his antics were nothing short of annoying, and the supporting acts were boring. It just came across like bad music hall comedy.
Only one series was made, thankfully, and Tommy later moved on to do the equally short lived, but more amusing, 'Cooper'.
