Queen Latifah is nearing a deal to star in Miramax Films' remake of the South Korean action-comedy My Wife Is a Gangster. No director is on board, but the studio hopes to be in production by first quarter next year. The project reunites the actress with the same studio for which she starred in the musical feature Chicago, which earned the performer her first Oscar nomination in the best supporting actress category. Adapted by Marc Klein, Gangster is about a female mob boss (Queen Latifah) who gets married to please her dying sister. She chooses a poor, unsuspecting dupe who has no idea what he's getting into in the hopes that he won't ask too many questions. However, he starts to wise up, and she starts to fall in love.
