Sbs has commissioned mini-series Better Man, the public broadcaster's first drama series in three years.
The four-part series is based on the true story of 25-year old Vietnamese-Australian Van Nguyen, who was convicted of drug trafficking in Singapore and executed for his crime in 2005.
Sbs managing director Michael Ebeid said Better Man is an example of the sort of compelling, inspiring and thought provoking content that Sbs can create with sustainable funding.
"Whilst our unprecedented federal budget funding boost is largely addressing the challenges we.ve faced in a changing media landscape, it has also enabled us to get back into the business of drama programming which our audiences know when we do it, we do it well..
Better Man is written and directed by Khoa Do, who received the Young Australian of the Year Award in 2005. Do, whose family originally settled in Sydney as Vietnamese refugees, has made several...

The Hot Moms Club met up with Brothers & Sister’s star Sarah Jane Morris for a day of eco-baby shopping at boutique The Little Seed, owned by actress Soleil Moon Frye.
Unlike her character Julia, who experienced fertility and marriage issues with onscreen husband Balthazar Getty, Sarah Jane is happily married to her college sweetheart Ned Brower (drummer of the rock band Rooney) and is expecting a baby boy in January.
Considering herself a “green advocate,” mom-to-be Sarah Jane practices what she preaches: the actress composts her kitchen scraps, buys organic and vintage clothes...

New father Pete Wentz had an interview with Ryan Seacrest's Kiis-fm radio show on Tuesday, November 25, detailing on his newborn son's name, Bronx Mowgli Wentz, and recalling the day his wife Ashlee Simpson delivered the infant. He, moreover, also talked about him changing "quite a few" diapers.
Asked by Ryan how he and Ashlee came up with the idea of naming their son Bronx Mowgli Wentz, which people would refer to as Bmw, Pete explained, "We came up with the idea Bronx. We've been throwing [ideas] back and forth a while. It's kind of cool to just leave the narrative what it is. People are stoked or pissed or whatever. And you're like, you know what: I don't think anyone really has the real story." As for the word 'Mowgli', the Fall Out Boy bassist revealed, "The Jungle Book was something that me and Ashlee bonded over. It's a cool name.
