I saw this movie yesterday at the International Film Festival Rotterdam.
Entre Nous is about a family that lives on an idyllic island near the coast of France. After the Father dies, the kids want to go back to shore, however mother refuses to leave the island that she and her late husband loved so much.
Entre Nous was shot on DV and has a grainy, pale look to it. The idyllic island feels more like a cold day out on Texel ( a small flat, windy and mostly boring island in the Netherlands) :) ). It felt like watching one of those "wow if you are coming over for dinner on saturday we can show you are great vacation movie of our two weeks in France" kind of movies. The ones you have to watch because people consider it impolite if you dont. Entre Nous fails to be interesting. With an exception of maybe 5 minutes where the mother is a bit overprotective of her family, the rest is just too boring. Almost fell asleep 4 times.
