Adapted from a Joel Houssin's story, but not novel, we find here his trade mark. And when you know that Jean-Pierre Bastid directed it, you can't be surprised by this social left winged movie which denounces the fascist tendencies that could threaten the country. I repeat, it is anticipation, not true life, modern real scheme. But the message is obvious. A perfect mix-up of Bastid and Houssin, both novelist of the French new wave from the late seventies and early eighties. Joel Houssin created the DOBERMAN novels series, from which was adapted the movie starring Vincent Cassel. It is a TV feature, this is obvious, nothing to do with the Hollywood productions. The tale of a new security system involving robots to replace the human policemen. And everything that means in terms of political message for the next generations. During the eighties, French TV industry tried some stuff, for instance Jean-Claude Missiaen's LES HORDES, LUTTEURS IMMOBILES, RAISON PERDUE...This TV movie is not flawless, far from that. But this nihilistic tale remains a pretty good time waster.
