It is a bitter drama here, that takes place in the deep French countryside, in the line of JACQUOU LE CROQUANT. Paul le Person steals most of the show in the farmer's role. A deep and gritty character depiction and I suppose realistic. It describes very well how the life was in the rural world. Another atmosphere, different from the urban way of life. The story of a young woman who gets pregnant, who then gives birth but decides to hide this illegitimate son, because the father refused to accept him. Yes, a true sad story, as often in those times on French channels. But after all maybe less gloommy than JACQUOU LE CROQUANT.
