Definitely a masterpiece of social criticism
zzmale26 November 2003
Under the cover story of love and romance between Oversea Chinese working at Shanghai and local Chinese, the film criticized the phenomenon of Chinese girls trying to go abroad by marrying foreigners. Most of such international marriages involves Shanghai girls and many of them did not end up happy. One of the many themes in this film is a subtle caution on sacrificing true love simply for the sake of getting out of China.
