A Note Regarding Spoilers

For detailed information about the amounts and types of (a) sex and nudity, (b) violence and gore, (c) profanity, (d) alcohol, drugs, and smoking, and (e) frightening and intense scenes in this movie, consult the IMDb Parents Guide for this movie. The Parents Guide for The Incredibles can be found here.

Is "The Incredibles" based on a book?

No. The Incredibles is based on a script by Brad Bird, who also directed the movie. Bird originally developed it for Warner Bros. but, after Warner shut down its animation division, Bird moved to Pixar Animation Studios at Walt Disney Pictures and took the story with him. However, there are several references to the celebrated graphic novel "Watchmen", which possibly Bird took as a base to write.

It's from Die Hard: With a Vengeance (1995) with Samuel L. Jackson in the subway with the cop that's going to shoot him before he answered the phone.

If you like Pixars animation in The Incredibles, you will certainly want to see some of the other Pixar productions, including Toy Story (1995) and Toy Story 2 (1999), A Bug's Life (1998), Monsters, Inc. (2001), Finding Nemo (2003), Cars (2006), Ratatouille (2007), WALL·E (2008), and Up (2009)
