Sex & Nudity

  • Buddy walks into a women's locker room and sings along with Jovie while she takes a shower. We only see her from the shoulders up and her head sticking out of the shower, and she has an alarmed reaction. When Jovie confronts him later, he says that he didn't know she was naked.
  • Buddy buys women's lingerie as a gift for his father unaware of what it is. The tag on it says "for that special someone."
  • Buddy looks over the top of a toilet stall to talk to a man in a different stall. No nudity.
  • Walter tells Buddy to lose his tights as soon as possible. Buddy pulls down his pants just as Emily walks in, and she screams at the sight of it. Nothing is shown as we only see her reaction.
  • There is a brief reference to "getting action" that is presumably referring to sex.

Violence & Gore

  • There is an exciting snowball fight. Many people take direct hits to the face/torso.
  • In one scene, an elf gets crushed by Buddy, but it's played for laughs.
  • Buddy gets attacked by a raccoon. However, the attack itself is offscreen.
  • There is several instances of mild, cartoonish violence/action in this movie, but they aren't really threatening, and no one is injured.
  • Buddy gets into a fight with the Santa at the department store, because he believes he's an imposter. There is some punching and kicking, but no blood or gore.
  • Buddy sees a ghost writer with dwarfism in his father's office and truly believes that he is an elf. This makes the man very angry, and he runs across the table and attacks Buddy. There is no blood, however. In the deleted scenes, the man slams Buddy's head repeatedly against an object, but this was removed from the final cut for obvious reasons.
  • While in the doctor's office, Buddy receives a finger prick. He screams, but there is no blood. This is made for comedic purposes.

Profanity

  • Some mild exclamations such as "son of a Nutcracker "
  • Three uses of "cotton-headed ninnymuggins"
  • The expletive "h-ll" is used, in addition to "Oh my G-d!"
  • A man says "Up yours" to his boss, prompting the man's son to innocently repeat the phrase, unaware of its vulgarity. The son is scolded.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • A man is seen smoking while in prison.
  • Adults have wine at the dinner table (we do not see them drink).
  • We hear that gnomes weren't used at the North Pole because they drink too much (and see one doing that, followed by a loud belch).
  • In the mailroom, Buddy accidentally gets drunk, after thinking that the bottle of liquor is syrup (may fly over the heads of young children who think he's drinking syrup).

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Buddy has a bad dream and everything goes all wavy and bleak.
  • Buddy feels heartbroken and depressed after Walter shouts at him in a furious tone.
