The final months of Robespierre
aleera2112 July 2005
This is a wonderful piece charting the last three months of Robespierre's life. All the characters are wonderfully and truthfully portrayed and the film is a lovely testimony to this great man! All the main events are mentioned if not actually seen and it is a film full of emotion. Although you know the history and know what will happen you still get caught up in the events and the build up to his fall. The camera is used as if we are indeed placing a camera within the historic scene and that works very well as it draws the audience in. There is also an interesting debate following the feature discussing different viewpoints on Robespierre. This is an issue that is still debated today, 40 years on from the film.
