  • Ben Affleck's character was supposed to be a New York Mets fan (or Yankees - sources differ), but Affleck, a Boston Red Sox fan, persuaded director John Woo to change the team to the Red Sox.

  • Marque de fabrique du metteur en scène: [John Woo] [doves]

  • Marque de fabrique du metteur en scène: [John Woo] [Mexican Stand-off] Twice between Jennings and Wolfe and Jennings and Rethrick.

  • Matt Damon was originally considered for the part of Michael Jennings, but turned it down because it was too similar to The Bourne Identity (2002).

  • In the apparently random sequence of numbers and letters shown at the beginning are included cast/credits and all the items from Jennings's envelope.

  • Jennings received $526,000.19 for developing the holo-monitor.

  • Marque de fabrique du metteur en scène: [John Woo] [reflections] When Jennings meets with the Rachel-Double in the Cafe, he sees her in the silver top of a sugar pot.

  • In the making of included on DVD, John Woo says that the visual similarities in the lead character to Roger Thornhill from North by Northwest (1959), as well as similarities in chase scenes etc. are there on purpose.

  • Just before Michael starts his second project he comments on the Red Sox making the World Series. Although this film was released in 2003 - it is set in 2004 and accurately predicts the Red Sox making the World Series, although it incorrectly predicts that they would lose.

  • The sender address of the envelope is M. Jennings/Alcom Eng. Dept., Discovery Park, Orondo, WA 98830 - phone 206.555.0101 - and the destination Jane Anderson/Reddy Grant, 401 Burrard St., Seattle, WA 98817 - phone 206.555.0199. The shipping date is 5/20/07.

  • Michael Jennings monitor project was 19 October 2004 to 22 December 2004 (date of his check). His paycheck project finishes June 2007 (date of his signed paper).

  • The 20 items that Jennings sent to himself are: sunglasses, pack of cigarettes, bus pass, diamond ring, paperclip, fortune from a cookie, janitor's key, lighter, hairspray, matchbook, Allcom pass, BMW key, looking glass, stamp, ball bearings, allen wrench, half dollar, cross word puzzle, bullet, and a watch.

  • In the original story ("Paycheck" by Philip K. Dick) Jennings sends to himself very different items and there were only 7 of them. They were: "A code key. A ticket stub. A parcel receipt. A length of fine wire. Half a poker chip, broken across. A green strip of cloth. A bus token."

  • The motorbike Ben Affleck takes from the BMW showroom is a R1150 R Roadster.

  • Among one of the items in the envelope is Michael's ID card from Alcom Corporation. In an FBI office scene there is a close shot of the card with a UPC bar-code 071486036043. This code corresponds to Premiere Magazine published by Curtis Circulation Company.

  • Michael C. Hall's feature film debut.

  • SPOILER: Thought up as a joke by a visual effects engineer (so says the "making of" included on DVD), some scenes make hints that the machine may be a sophisticated hand-lines reader. Before Michael goes to Allcom for his job, he's getting inspiration from a ceramic hand sculpture, showing the lines. When, at the end of the film, he uses the machine, there is a close shot of interaction between the machine and his hand-lines.
