Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow gets 2026 release date, with Mortal Kombat 2 hitting theaters next year
Warner Bros. has announced the official release date for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, with the Dcu movie set to hit theaters on June 26, 2026. Additionally, the studio unveiled release dates for several of its other big movies, including Mortal Kombat 2, which will hit theaters on October 24, 2025.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will star Milly Alcock (House of the Dragon) in the title role, with the film set to be scripted by Ana Nogueira and based on the Tom King comic series of the same name. Craig Gillespie (Cruella) is expected to direct the movie, but DC Studios co-chief James Gunn has teased that this version of Supergirl will be different. “In our series we see the difference between Superman who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from the time he was an infant, versus Supergirl who was raised on a rock, a chip off Krypton, and watched everyone...

Iñaki Godoy has portrayed Monkey D. Luffy in Netflix’s One Piece Live Action to its utmost perfection. At first, the fans were skeptical but later loved him as the Gomu Gomu no Mi user. Godoy is going to reprise his role as the Straw Hats’ captain in One Piece Live Action season 2. Due to the live adaptation, his popularity skyrocketed.
Being involved with one of the biggest shows on Netflix, it is next to impossible to star in another fan-favorite series. But ‘Titans’ actor Ryan Potter saw Iñaki Godoy fit to take up the role of Beast Boy in Dcu’s Teen Titans. Even though it is an opinion, the fans were quick to take up the issue on social media and had their fair share to say.

Avatar: The Last Airbender star Ian Ousley has recently revealed his desire to play Dcu’s Teen Titans role of Garfield Logan. The factory reset of DC Universe by James Gunn and Peter Safran has certainly opened doors for several actors to have their shot at DC Universe after the inception of Chapter 1, Gods and Monsters.

But ahead of that, Ousley revealed that he has been keen on playing Beast Boy— one of the primary characters of the superpowered teen band. Whenever it comes to the Dcau, fans often look back to Bruce Timm’s masterful work on Batman: The Animated Series, which by many is still considered the peak of the caped crusader. However, the Dcau isn’t just limited to Btas, as there have been several different interpretations of the iconic character in the realm of animation, with one of them being The Batman.
Not to be confused with Matt Reeves’ The Batman, The Batman Animated Series was a fun reimagining of Batman and its coterie of supervillains, which scored well critically throughout its run. One thing that fans found odd about the show was the introduction of Batgirl as Bruce’s first sidekick, but the writers can’t be blamed for this decision.

The Bruce Timm and Alan Burnett-produced Dcau has had many shows and films that have attained the status of modern classics. Shows such as Batman: The Animated Series, Justice League, and Teen Titans have been classics in the animated TV realm for a generation while the films have constantly been well-received.
While Marvel achieved many milestones through their live-action MCU, they seem to be way behind their DC counterparts. Only a few shows with their most profitable IP such as X-Men and Spider-Man have fared well with audiences. Alan Burnett, who served as a co-producer and writer on many Dcau shows and films reportedly has the reason why.

This article contains spoilers for X-Men ’97
Every great X-Men story has some sort of relationship drama at its center. The pathos of characters having to deal with interpersonal conflicts while their existence is at stake is the kind of drama that defines a good X-Men story. It seems that X-Men ’97 understands this well, having introduced one of its most contentious love triangles back into the story, right as Genosha was blown up in a terrorist plot against the mutant population.
Jean Grey and Logan Howlett in X-Men ’97
X-Men ’97 created a lot of drama in Scott Summers’ life, exposing the mother of his child as a clone, while the actual Jean Grey might have been missing in action since the original Animated Series. However, with Jean returned, things took a a turn for the worse when Jean, in a moment of weakness, ended up kissing Wolverine, who was there to comfort her.

The legendary Bruce Timm is known for being the creator behind many of DC’s animated offerings. The ‘Timmverse’ saw a new dimension to characters such as Batman, Superman, and the Justice League, with Batman: The Animated Series being one of the most celebrated shows of all time. Timm was quite literally the Godfather of DC animation.
Despite his prowess and Midas touch, the animator was reportedly not too keen on developing one show that went on to become a cult classic. Batman Beyond, which was an original show that was not based on any comic, was reportedly the product of studio interference, which wanted a young, teenage Batman instead of an aging Bruce Wayne.

The Teen Titans show is one of the most iconic animated offerings from DC. It is in the same league as the studio’s other animated shows such as Batman: The Animated Series and Justice League. Animator Glen Murakami, who also worked on the aforementioned shows, worked on Teen Titans as a showrunner and brought the comic book team to the forefront.
While the Teen Titans began in the ‘60s, the comic book did not gain fame until its ‘80s revival in the form of Marv Wolfman and George Pérez’s The New Teen Titans, by which the show was inspired. There was a time when the animated features and shows were in the hands of Dcau producer and supervisor Bruce Timm, who made some of the most memorable pieces of entertainment in the animation space with characters from DC Comics.
But in his pursuit for greatness, he wasn’t alone, as one of the franchise’s projects, none other than the iconic Teen Titans, was handled by Glen Murakami.

While Timm has been revered in the industry with his breathtaking narrative and animation style, made popular with Batman: The Animated Series, Murakami made a name for himself with Teen Titans, making it one of the best superhero animated shows in history.
But the animations that Murakami managed to achieve by combining comic book art and anime art style in his production was something that even Timm couldn’t do.

Animator and showrunner Glen Murakami’s legendary show Teen Titans has been one of the most beloved animated DC shows. While many are fans of DC’s other classic animated offerings such as Batman: The Animated Series and Justice League, Murakami’s show had a different edge and tone that made it perfect for both children and adults.
Teen Titans brought the underrated comic to the forefront as characters such as Robin and Cyborg became much more than their usual sidekick personas. The show also gave more of an edge to Robin, bringing him out of Batman’s shadow. One decision that Glen Murakami took to make sure the series was better than other DC shows was to make it both kid and adult-friendly.

There have been a lot of "Transformers" cartoons since 1984. Most of them (and I say this as a fan) are pretty unimpressive. One of the best ones is "Transformers: Animated," which aired from 2007 to 2009 on Cartoon Network. Network executive Sam Register created the series like it was "Teen Titans" with robots. Register even recruited one of that show's character designers, the late Derrick J. Wyatt, resulting in a similar art style.
"Animated" broke away from past series' tenets, transforming them you might say — the show's team even cast Megatron voice actor extraordinaire David Kaye as Optimus Prime instead. The series was explicitly pitched as "more like a superhero show than a 'Transformers' show" (read the original production bible here for many tantalizing insights and scrapped ideas). The Autobots each had unique powers and faced off against human villains; against the Decepticons, they were definite underdogs.

The director of Cruella and I, Tonya is in line to make one of the key films in the new-look DC Universe – Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow – according to reports.
To date, we’ve heard a few promising nuggets of information about Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow, one of several films planned for James Gunn’s new-look DC Universe. The character is set to be a departure from previous takes on the character that we’ve seen from actors such as Helen Slater and Sasha Calle.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, we now have a director in place too, and the good news continues. Craig Gillespie is reportedly in negotiations to helm the film and this feels like a really good match. Whether he helms offbeat movies such as Dumb Money or I, Tonya or big studio flicks like Cruella, Gillespie brings a real verve and playfulness to his films and given...

"Suicide Squad Isekai," premiering this July, bridges the worlds of DC Comics and anime. "Isekai" is a popular anime genre; meaning "another world" in Japanese, Isekai anime follows an everyman lead being transported to a magical realm, "Alice in Wonderland" style. This time, the "everyman" leads are Harley Quinn (played by Anna Nagase instead of Margot Robbie), Deadshot, Peacemaker, King Shark, and Clayface.
Wit Studio ("Attack on Titan") is producing "Suicide Squad Isekai," but the series is only happening thanks to Warner Bros. Japan. Variety recently reported that Warner Bros. plans for DC Comics-inspired anime are only beginning. Like Disney, Warner Bros. has noticed an audience appetite for anime and is responding to it.
James Gibbons, Warner Bros. Discovery president of Asia-Pacific, told Variety:

James Gunn has been active on social media, posting regular updates about the Dcu. He recently announced the beginning of filming of Superman and the casting of Milly Alcock as Supergirl. Besides the Superman and Supergirl films, one other project that audiences expect an update on is the announced The Authority project. When a fan asked about the casting of the film, Gunn had a perfect response that Kevin Feige should take note for the MCU.

The Teen Titans are a well-known group of superheroes, and as the title suggests, they are comprised entirely of teenagers. The team has been around since the silver age of comics, but the 2003 animated show introduced these vibrant characters to the majority of fans.
It quickly became a beloved cartoon series, and despite aiming for children as the target audience, it struck a chord with adults too. The show has been hailed for its creativity and ability to tackle storylines in a thought-provoking manner. However, Glen Murakami, the creator of the series, believes its secret weapon was in a special anime style.

The animated show Teen Titans was a classic that introduced a whole new generation to the eponymous group of superheroes from DC Comics. Created by Glen Murakami, the show aired from 2003 to 2009, spanning five seasons and multiple spinoffs and movies. The show has been regarded as a classic among other DC animated media such as Batman: The Animated Series.
The show was known for its treatment of Robin as a solo hero rather than a sidekick to Batman, its anime-inspired tone, and its mature treatment of the characters. One of the major changes that Murakami made with the show was to not give any secret identities to the superheroes as he wanted children to identify with their characteristics rather than their identities.

The Lost Episode: Almost No Fan Has Seen This Secret Teen Titans Episode That’s Just 10 Minutes Long
Teen Titans, featuring the young group of DC superheroes is one of the most popular Cartoon Network animated series. The show was very different from the classical critically acclaimed DC animated shows we have seen before. The perfect blend of humor and rich story featured a story very different from the Batman and the Superman series that came before.
Interestingly, the Cartoon Network series had a secret episode titled The Lost Episode, which is not even known to a lot of the fans. The episode was nearly 12 minutes long and was a special episode made for a promotional campaign.

With Teen Titans finally set to get the big screen treatment, it’s only right to assume that the upcoming film will take a page out of the 2003 show. Released during the peak of the Dcau on Cartoon Network, Teen Titans would eventually transcend the medium, becoming the best-animated show to ever hit the network.
And while fans will hope the upcoming live-action adaptation will take major inspiration from the show, its influences shouldn’t be limited to this adaptation alone. Considering the animation department is set to be a major driving force for the new universe, James Gunn and co. have the perfect template in Teen Titans to push the medium to new heights.

Earlier this month, word came out that James Gunn and Peter Safran, the co-heads of Warner Bros.' DC Studios, have hired screenwriter Ana Nogueira to pen the script for a live-action Teen Titans film that will be set within their planned interconnected DC Universe of film, television, and video games. This experiment kicks off with an animated series called "Creature Commandos" sometime in 2024, but begins in earnest with James Gunn's newly-retitled "Superman" live-action feature film in the summer of 2025.
This "Teen Titans" film will likely follow the exploits of young heroes like Robin, Beast Boy, Cyborg, Raven, and Starfire, and whether or not it falls into Gunn and Safran's planned first chapter of the Dcu -- a collection of films and shows that fall under an umbrella they've titled "Gods and Monsters" -- remains to be seen. ‘Waller’ was confirmed to be in development back in 2022 as a spinoff of ‘Peacemaker’, with Viola Davis reprising her role as the titular character, recently it’s been confirmed that the show will not be comedy-oriented as ‘Peacemaker’ as Waller is much more serious character, and the show will try to reflect that tone.
‘Waller’ was supposed to be released in 2024, but the fact that Gunn is now focusing on the rest of the Dcu projects, the best-case scenario is that the show gets released in 2025, even though the 2024 release date is still present in some sources.

"Young Justice" currently sits in limbo after its fourth season wrapped on Max. There's more story to tell, but Warner Bros. hasn't given creator Greg Weisman the greenlight to tell it. But hey, "Young Justice" has come back from worse! Cartoon Network outright canceled the show after season 2 finished airing in 2013.

A DC comics staple for decades (truly becoming popular in printed form in the 1980s), the Teen Titans have since exploded in cultural awareness mainly thanks to the various animated series, especially the zany, meta Teen Titans Go! series, which spawned its own movie spin-off in 2018. On one hand, the prospect of a film featuring characters from the earlier animated TV show is exciting for some fans. However, on the other, many DC fans worry that Gunn is repeating the same old mistakes committed by Zack Snyder’s Dceu. Fans criticized DC’s move to announce new projects, while the already announced slate awaits development updates.

Mangaka Eiichiro Oda sensei has a way of hiding easter eggs as minor trolls in One Piece, which later turns out to be of much greater significance than what the readers expect. And in this very manner, he just may have hidden signs here and there about who could succeed and carry on Bartholomew Kuma’s legacy in the saga.
Eiichiro Oda sensei’s One Piece Universe
While some might expect Monkey D. Luffy or Jewelry Bonney, the former Warlord of the Sea’s adoptive daughter, to be his perfect heirs, one recent fan theory implores otherwise. In fact, with an ocean of hints mentioned here and there in the previous chapters of the manga further backing up this theory, it just might be proven true over time.
Warning: May Contain Spoilers For One Piece Manga Ahead!

Gunn and Safran took charge of what used to be called Dceu, renaming it as Dcu. Over a year ago, they unveiled their plans for ‘Chapter 1: Gods & Monsters’. By January 2023, the DC cinematic universe was described as undergoing a significant but not total overhaul, planning a multi-year storyline.
James Gunn and Peter Safran revealed the initial projects of this new lineup on January 31. They shared details about the writers behind the overarching story: Drew Goddard, Jeremy Slater, Christina Hodson (who wrote ‘The Flash’), Christal Henry, and comic book writer Tom King. The plan involved breaking down the stories into chapters, starting with ‘Gods and Monsters.’ This chapter included five films: ‘Superman’ (2025), ‘The Authority,’ ‘The Brave and the Bold,’ ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,’ and ‘Swamp Thing.’
Additionally, five television series were part of this initial phase: ‘Creature Commandos,’ ‘Waller,’ ‘Lanterns,’ ‘Paradise Lost,’ and ‘Booster Gold.’ The aim was to blend...

The “Teen Titans” superhero team appearing in numerous DC Comics titles since 1964, is being developed into a live-action feature film, to be written by Ana Nogueira (“Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow”):
“…as the group's name indicates, the members are teenage superheroes, many of whom have acted as sidekicks to DC's premier superheroes in the ‘Justice League’.
“The original team later becomes known as the ‘Titans’ when the members age out of their teenage years…
“…while the ‘Teen Titans’ name is continued by subsequent generations of young heroes.
“First appearing in 1964 in ‘The Brave and the Bold’ #54, the team was formed by ‘Kid Flash’ (‘Wally West’), ‘Robin’ (‘Dick Grayson’), and ‘Aqualad’ (‘Garth’)…
“…before adopting the name ‘Teen Titans’ in issue #60 with the addition of ‘Wonder Girl’ (‘Donna Troy’) to their ranks…”

While One Piece will be keeping Iñaki Godoy busy for probably the next decade, that didn’t stop DC fandom from fan-casting him into another perfect role. Godoy could easily play Beast Boy, one of the founding members of the Teen Titans. While many fans could connect the actor’s persona with One Piece‘s Luffy, the charming actor could also convince his audience as a shape-changing teen titan. However, one major problem could prevent this fan-casting from becoming a reality.
Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy in One Piece Live-Action
If Beast Boy were to become a part of James Gunn’s new Dcu, the character may not have a major arc in the universe. However, Iñaki Godoy is already a star playing Luffy, and any downgrade from that will be a gross injustice to his star power.
