Spotlight on the World We Live In #3 (1951)
*** (out of 4)
This here is the second entry I've seen from the Canadian series and I must say that I enjoyed it a lot more than the previous one. This series basically puts a "spotlight" on a variety of subjects with this one here covering some mildly entertaining ones. We start off with the "Body's Worth," which tells us how much the average human eats in their lifetime and I'm sure the numbers have changed since 1951. The amount of fish, bread and other items are covered. We also learn about the various sugars and iron in a human body, which gives us its worth. "Coasting Uphill" is just that. This here covers a hill that has some sort of magnetic force that it allows a car to drive down it and then the force can pull it back up. "Foster Hewitt" is a hockey announcer and we get to see how he calls the games. Finally, "60,000,000 Years Ago" talks about the various creatures that were in Alberta, Canada so many years ago. Overall I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this episode because all four sections are rather interesting. I'd say the third one is the least entertaining but even it managed to keep me entertained. I think the first story is obviously the best since it really does try to give a worth of a human body (under a buck) and it's pretty funny.
