His production credits with Pressman include American Psycho, Thank You For Smoking, The Cooler, Bad Lieutenant: New Orleans and Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps. Ed Pressman was sui generis.
He was a rebel with a bowtie. He was a shy, soft-spoken man with a bold vision and relentless drive.
He was an original thinker, even an eccentric, sometimes a contrarian, always a dreamer.
He was always unafraid to embrace a new idea, a difficult project, an untested filmmaker with great ambition and little experience.

A new film traces the Scream star’s journey from acting prodigy to indie-circuit fighter. Could his career rise from the canvas?
In terms of cinematic output, David Arquette hasn’t enjoyed the most successful career. After promising beginnings, when he appeared on the cover of the Vanity fair Hollywood edition alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Will Smith, his profile has been fading steadily for the last two decades. In 2001 he appeared opposite a dog in See Spot Run. In 2004 he billed below Dmx in Never Die Alone. Since 2018, the majority of his films haven’t even managed to earn their own Wikipedia pages.
There are many potential explanations for this. Bad decisions, sobriety struggles, the fickle nature of the Hollywood machine. However, a new documentary claims a different reason for Arquette’s unfulfilled potential: professional wrestling.

The signature appeal of Spike Lee’s early films have Ernest Dickerson’s cinematography to thank as much as Lee’s own cinematic flourishes. Dickerson’s eye helped give many Spike Lee joints their distinctive look; it was a symbiotic pairing that would continue through much of their careers. But directing was always in Dickerson’s future. One of the things I really like about director Ernest Dickerson is that he has no qualms nor shame about being considered a "genre” director - the term used for directors who specialize in genres such as horror, suspense and action. Take a look at his very impressive and extensive list of directing jobs in both films and television, and you'll see credits such as "Surviving The Game," "Bones," "Never Die alone," "The 4400," "Under the Dome," and "Dexter." And I don’t need to tell you about his stellar work on the AMC's "The Walking Dead" for which has directed several episodes, many considered the most...

Chicago – The path to this year’s remake of the 1986 film “About Last Night” starts right here in Chicago, based on the original 1974 stage version, “Sexual Perversity in Chicago” by David Mamet. Two co-stars in the remake – Michael Ealy and Regina Hall – visited the source city to talk about their version.
After working mostly on stage in the late 1990s, Michael Ealy broke out in a big way (see the story below) in the popular “Barbershop” (2002). This led to steady work with roles in “2 Fast 2 Furious” (2003), “Never Die Alone” (2004) and the pivotal part as “Tea Cake” in the Oprah Winfrey produced 2005 TV movie of the classic novel “Their Eyes Were Watching God” by Zora Neal Hurston. Recently, he was featured in “Think Like a Man” (2012) and “Last Vegas” (2013). Ealy takes on the role of Danny in “About Last Night,” played in the 1986 version by Rob Lowe.

The twin-stick zombie shooter is fast becoming a gaming cliché, almost as prevalent as military-themed first-person shooters and Jrpg's with androgynous heroes. Maybe it's the familiarity of the analog stick control method. Maybe it's the natural fit for zombies in a game where you face off against hordes of enemies. No matter what the case, there are literally dozens—if you include the Xbox Indie scene—of dual-stick twitching zombie blasting titles. Some games, like the bleak and bombastic Dead Nation, elevate the subgenre to an art form where others, like last year's Zombie Apocalypse: Never Die Alone, are joyless slogs through the end of days. Now, we've got...

Konami's Zombie Apocalypse was an unexpected treat: a brilliantly brainless blaster that mixed Left 4 Dead with Smash TV to make a simple, pick up and play experience that required little commitment from the player, yet delivered plenty of cheap, visceral thrills. Zombie Apocalypse: Never Die Alone, the unexpected (and unnecessary) sequel, promises the same fast and furious gameplay, but with the added depth of distinct character classes, larger levels, and a plot to string together the various zed-splattering arenas. Sadly, the sequel's new "more is better" attitude proves to be its downfall. Zombie Apocalypse succeeded as a result of its simplicity. Players were dropped into a...

Gnomeo and Juliet (DVD/Blu-ray)
Set in the gardens of fair Verona Drive, we witness the blossoming romance of two young gnomes, Gnomeo (James McAvoy) and Juliet (Emily Blunt), amidst a turf war between the reds and the blues. Between the high-speed lawnmower chases and stealth missions, hearts (and hats) are broken, loyalties are tested and garden boundaries drawn, but can true gnomance conquer all? When your best friends are an over-excitable frog, a lovelorn flamingo, a loyal mushroom, a team of Bond-esque bunnies and a dopey fawn, there’s a shedload of fun and adventure around every plant pot! Review.
The Mechanic (DVD/Blu-ray)
Jason Statham is Arthur Bishop – The Mechanic – an elite assassin with a unique talent for eliminating targets with deadly skill and total emotional detachment.

After Cold Sweat’s successful release in Argentina and the American premiere this week at SXFantastic, a sidebar of SXSW Film Festival, Adrian Garcia Bogliano announces the preproduction of his upcoming movie Vagabundo En La Lluvia (Drifter in the Rain), a remake of the 1968 cult classic directed by Carlos Enrique Taboada.
Adrian Garcia Bogliano was born in Spain but raised in Argentina. He began his career at 19 with his film Habitaciones Para Turistas (Room for Tourists, 2004), a critical smash which made it to a limited theatrical release in the United States. He has since directed 36 Pasos (2006), No Morire Sola (I’ll Never Die Alone, 2008), Donde Duerme El Horror (The Accursed, 2010) and Penumbra (2011), currently in post production.
The film will be produced by Pablo Guisa Koestinger, the director of the Morbido Film Festival, a Mexican horror & fantasy festival that already has produced Massacre, Esta Noche (Watch’em Die, 2009) written and directed by Adrian and his brother,...

With titles like “Watch ‘em Die”, “The Accursed”, “I’ll Never Die Alone”, and “Screams in the Night” under his belt, you probably have a pretty good idea of what kind of films Argentine director Adrian Garcia Bogliano makes. He makes violent slasher-y, horror-y movies. The teaser for his latest, “Sudor Frio” (“Cold Sweat”) certainly fits into this pattern. There is sex, drugs, rock and roll, violence, and gas masks (movies involving gas masks always win extra points). The story revolves around a young man searching for his missing girlfriend, a search that leads him to a house occupied by a pair of cold-blooded killers and twenty-five cases of explosives dating back to Argentina’s last military dictatorship. That sounds like a good time. Here is the teaser via Twitch. function getVideo() { var so = new SWFObject("http://cdn.springboard.gorillanation.com/storage/xplayer/yo033.swf", "mplayer", "590", "375", "8", "#000000"); so.addParam("wmode","transparent"); so.

One of the most prolific directors in Argentina - with eight features to his name since 2004 - Adrian Garcia Bogliano has built a name for himself with a steady stream of low budget shockers. Titles such as 36 Steps and I'll Never Die Alone have been over-achievers for Bogliano, traveling internationally and performing well on the festival circuit. And now, with Sudor Frio (Cold Sweat) it appears that we finally get the chance to see what Bogliano can do with a production budget at least marginally higher than the price of lunch.
And the word is that he can do rather well. Regular Twitch contributor Aaron Soto just caught the film at Mexico's Morbido Festival, where he says it was the best of the fest. The story revolves around a young man searching for his missing girlfriend, a search that leads him to a house occupied by a pair of cold...

NEW YORK -- Ed Pressman and John Schmidt's ContentFilm banner said Wednesday that it will finance and produce a big-screen adaptation of Donald Goines' novel Daddy Cool. A Goines novel was the basis for ContentFilm's Never Die Alone, which Fox Searchlight is releasing Friday. Cool follows a hit man whose family life is torn apart after his teenage daughter runs away. When the assassin tries to rescue her, a tragic series of circumstances unfolds. Alone helmer Ernest Dickerson is said to be circling Cool, and another Alone alum, rapper-actor DMX, is considering a supporting role and shared producing responsibilities through his Bloodline Pictures banner. Daddy was adapted by screenwriter Oren Moverman (Jesus' Son). James Gibson is executive producing with Marc Gerald, Pressman and Schmidt. ContentFilm's Alessandro Camon will produce. Michael Roban, ContentFilm head of business affairs and acquisitions, brokered the deal with publisher Holloway House's Bentley Morris for Cool's rights. ContentFilm's credits include The Cooler, which was released by Lions Gate Films, and United Artists' upcoming Undertow.
