The soundtrack was simply no good, and totally unfitting for the crime story depicted here.
It sounded almost like the generic stock music often used for silent films; I wonder if it was something intentional, but it almost ruined my enjoyment of this little short by Gianluigi Toccafondo; by contrast, the animation was quite wonderful, with a couple of scenes being almost reminiscent of the paintings made by Francis Bacon.
Even if the plot is not exactly very clear, the visuals alone were impressive enough to carry the whole short, disregard of the awful background music.
Compare with the soundtrack from the Pinocchio short by Toccafondo, which actually enhanced the haunting imagery instead of being distracting.
