Justice for all
jean-no23 April 2003
Well, here we go again with the "pilot movie" of a maybe or maybe not forecoming TV-serie. The heroes are two associated lawyers. One, Julien (Nils Tavernier), has lost his wife and his daughter in an accident six months ago. He is not sure of why he is a lawyer and not sure he has to hang on. The other one, Vincent (Chad Chenouga), focuses on his social success, he maybe comes from a lower social background than his friend.

One day, a woman comes to Julien : she lost a trial against somebody whose dog has left a huge scar on her daughter's face ; The dog has been killed, its owner paid a little, and the story stopped, maybe because the mother didn't have any money to pay. Vincent then realizes this case can help him : doing what he decided to do his job for, justice for all. His friend Vincent is not sure : he is happy to see Julien working so much, but the case will not pay anything, and Julien finds out the city (that where ought to be a customer) may be responsible. So who wins, Justice or buisness ? Well as it is not a hollywood stuff, it will not be justice AND buisness. I actually liked this little TV-movie : the actors are very good, even the little girl. Nils Tavernier (good youg french actor, son of director Bertrand Tavernier) plays a complex and intersting character, Chad Chenouga is even more complex and as good actor. The whole movie has a particular color, greys and browns, and a particular rythm - a little slow sometimes, very quiet, far from the frenetic and boring camera mooves of "la crime". The legal background is a little bit fantasmatic (I mean I'm not sure it is how it happens for real) but the characters are quite deep. Actually I enjoyed it and I hope it will become a real serie.
