Pompous porno crap
lor_2 February 2024
Jim Holliday got big budgets and huge casts, but managed to make idiotic, empty porn features. I skipped them back in the day, and watching his stuff three decades later is a real chore.

"Timeless" of course should be retitled "Mindless". It stars Kylie Ireland, a favorite of mine, and has her supposedly a horrible prima donna on set, giving everyone from starlets to her director (Veronica Hart, one of many cameos) a hard time. Anal sex is what this video is all about and supposedly it's difficult to get Kylie to deliver, until the stupid finale when she gets reamed by Tom Bryon, treated like a big deal.

The gimmick of "Scrooge", having visitors from porn's earlier decades to warn Kylie about her future is ridiculous, just a gimmick and an excuse to insert many extraneous sex scenes, just like a loop carrier. Holliday shows up and reads his lines so poorly I couldn't stomach it -he has to be one of the most smug "auteurs" ever to insert himself into his movies, although one could argue that Bruce Seven is in the same category.

Basically, we have to listen to speeches about how wonderful porn is and how horrible are the attempts to censor or belittle it. Nothing is more boring than self-serving crap like that, but Holliday insists on including it. And he can't resist throwing in anti-feminist propaganda, too.

His tributes to porn of the '60s, '70s and '80s is utterly unconvincing and of course he neglects to point out that in the '60s "Hippie" period it was strictly softcore. But his cynical diatribe about how the hippies and nonconformists (symbolized by Ian Daniels giving in and getting his trademark long hair cut off) would in future morph into corporatized squares is not prophetic, as it is subsequent generations who have become reactionary, not the original rebels (who are dead).

Appearances by Sharon Kane, Mitch (a/k/a Miss Sharon Mitchell) and detestable Ron Jeremy add nothing.
