For a first-time event, The Game Awards did very well for themselves in terms of online viewership. The Las Vegas-based awards show produced by Geoff Keighley (formerly of G4tv.com) reached 1.93 million live stream viewers during its three-hour timespan. The event was aired on December 5, 2014, across live stream platforms such as Twitch, YouTube, Xbox Live, PlayStation Network, Wii-u, and Steam (which just introduced a live streaming feature for its users to broadcast their game sessions). YouTube revealed viewers spent an average of 28 minutes watching The Game Awards on the video platform, and the event has garnered 5.6 million collective views across all platforms as of this writing.
