At last!

It had been broadcast for Xmas 1974.So it was a great pleasure to see it again last Sunday! Jacqueline Maillan was one of the funniest French actresses on stage and to this day,she has not been replaced. Her portrayal of Catherine the outspoken laundress who became duchess of Danzig in the court of Napoleon the First where she kept her crude manners (which infuriated the emperor's sisters)is a delight not to be missed .Good support by William Sabattier as her husband and by Gérard Barray as Neipperg.

There is a lot of versions (filmed stage production or movies),but Jacqueline Maillan is ,along Arletty in Richebé 's film ,the best "Madame Sans-Gene "(="Mrs inconsiderateness" that ever was .
