The spirit of Stuart Gordon is alive and well in Joe Lynch’s Suitable Flesh. The adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft’s “The Thing on the Doorstep,” written by Dennis Paoli (Re-Animator, From Beyond, Dagon), and produced by Brian Yuzna and Barbara Crampton, seamlessly inserts itself into Gordon’s Lovecraftian cinematic world from its opening scene set in a hospital that’s instantly evocative of Re-Animator. Lynch captures the humorous, oft-sexy tone of Gordon’s ‘80s/’90s Lovecraftian horror output while putting his own stamp on it through keen instincts and modern storytelling.
Psychiatrist Dr. Elizabeth Derby (Heather Graham) had it all; a doting husband in Edward (Johnathon Schaech), an enduring friendship with colleague Daniella Upton (Crampton), and a successful career. That changed the moment young Asa Waite (Judah Lewis) crashed into her life as a troubled patient suffering from an extreme personality disorder. Or does he? Asa claims that something’s possessed his father,...

Fanboy Favourite Guillermo del Toro has become more known in recent times for the projects he has walked away from (The Hobbit, At The Mountains of Madness) than for what he has actually done (which includes Blade 2, both Hellboy films and Pan's Labyrinth).
Among his earlier achievements were three horror films - Cronos, Mimic and The Devil's Backbone - with a Director's Cut Blu-ray of Mimic heading to stores on October 31.
Next up for the filmmaker is creature feature Pacific Rim. So what's the latest on that, and will he ever return to his planned adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft's Antarctic terror tale At The Mountains of Madness or get chance to finish his Hellboy films with a third, climactic instalment?
In an interview with Den of Geek to promote the Mimic Blu-ray, del Toro gives the briefest of updates on Pacific Rim, revealing: "We start shooting in five weeks,...

Fango chatted with Paoli afterward to get more details on the impending production, as well as a couple of his and Gordon’s feature projects.
“After playing Poe in our version of The Black Cat for the second season of Masters Of Horror,” Paoli tells us, “Jeffrey couldn’t get out of the character. So Stuart and I decided to help him live out his fantasy of actually being the author by developing with him a evening in the theater with Edgar Allan Poe—or is it the ghost of Edgar Allan Poe?—doing a reading, as...
