Good concept...
stfilms6823 November 2004
Happened to see "Last Conversation" at the Bare Bones Film Festival. This was a good concept for a short film. A very interesting idea. There were some technical issues (like the camera reflection in the screen door, and a "home video" quality to it) but overall, it was a good platform to build on for better projects in the future. Would've preferred the picture of the husband to be something other than an actor's black and white headshot, but still, the film works well. It was one of the better student films shown at the festival. Every project should be a learning experience towards what you're going to produce next. Keep writing and working. =)

Awesome short!!!!!

I had no idea Last Conversation was one here.I had the honor of viewing this short at the Script to screen film festival last October. Wow, it gave you so much entertainment and emotion at the same time and in only 12 min. I had mixed thoughts upon entering the theater. Hearing his budget and size of crew made feel uneasy buying a ticket however at the same time this particular short had already won numerous festivals and was without a doubt the biggest short movie there. Last Conversation ended up winning and I got to meet Adam Ropp after the awards ceremony. He was such a nice guy having no ego at all by winning and would talk to anyone regardless of their stature. I even got to eat dinner with him that night with a lot of other film-makers!! I had such a great time.

Not the best????

I attend film festivals regularly and have seen Last Conversation 3 times in 3 separate fests. I have never met Adam Ropp or anyone from the movie. The problem I notice with a lot of amateurs is that yes, they have low budgets and not so experienced actors and they try to say there movie is spectacular. This may be true, but the movie is only considered good because of what it is, not if it moved the audience or how it compared to other movies. Last Conversation cost $5 to make, it had a first time writer, director, actor, and actress. They had no lights or equipment except one camera. So, was this movie just "good" for what it was or did it meet the standards I stated above to make it an official "Great film"??? Well lets see…., Yes!!!! 1 Almost a fourth of every audience that sees it, cries!!!! They don't say "it's sad", but has water out there eyes. 2 Almost every showing it has it gets a standing applause. 3 It has been in 12 festivals and almost won every one it goes too(9)!! Do not, I repeat, Do not even try to say you have a movie that has done that!! I like how most people who say anything bad about the movie has a movie themselves and more than likely Last Conversation beat in a fest. If not, their movie has never even come close to winning like it has. And on a last note, everyone has there opinion and they are entitled to it, but one fact and I do mean 'fact' remains and that is, Last Conversation could be the most crappy shot, directed, and acted movie ever made, but it moves so many people and has won more best pic film fests than most shorts in the United States and that no matter what makes it a giant!

Not the best, not the worst
xxx731108 December 2005
Not the best short film out there...but definitely not the worst. It has a very amateur look and style to it, and the pacing is rather slow. At the end, you figure out what the concept of the film is, but by then, it's a little too late to feel invested in the characters and the plot. And while the choice of music at the end was pretty, it really didn't fit at all. So, take a look at this film from a learning standpoint. You could learn some "Do's" and some "Don'ts." DO continue writing, shooting, directing, editing, etc. DON'T get discouraged. Continue to learn and develop your craft. Write, rewrite, rewrite again, shoot, edit, re-edit, etc. Best of luck with everything in the future.

Why all the hype?
stlc7620 March 2006
I'm not quite sure why this film has gotten so much hype and attention. It's okay, but I have to admit, I'm confused as to why (as someone stated) it has won so many festivals. And which festivals are they? The film is okay if you compare it to films made by young teenagers. But given the age of those involved in this one, I would've expected more. Rather amateur on most levels except one. The only thing that really stands out is the concept of the film. Not the execution of the story or the film as a whole, just the concept by itself. So, if you put it up against very poor student short films, I guess I could see how it might stand out, with a decent concept that was captured.
