Good Stuff.

Let it be known that I enjoy "Touching Evil" immensely. Let it also be known that I have not seen the original version from Across the Pond, so my views are expressed solely from the USA series.

I've yet to miss an episode of this since the pilot. I liked it from the beginning, and really had no reservations about it, and it's proven itself quite well in the short time it's been on. As most of you can figure out, Donovan (Detective Inspector Creegan) walks away with this show. That's not to say his supporting cast doesn't pull their own weight, he's just in a Heavy Duty work truck helping them out. This is the first time I'd seen Donovan in action, I had heard he was in Blair Witch II, but that was after this show premiered. Now I don't know about the original Brit who played DI Creegan, many purists here on IMDB think he's the flat-out winner (and due to originality's sake, perhaps he is), but from the 'US Remake only' point of view Donovan brings the deep, troubled, and witty nature of DI Creegan out in spades. He's obsessive compulsive, has a knack for patterns, and has an odd connection with victims. His rather manic behavior is the fuel this show runs on. It makes him incredibly compelling to watch, but it also sets the tone for the show and the supporting cast as a whole, because he's so set in his ways they mold themselves around him. Speaking of the tone of the show, it's dark, brooding, yet witty and poignant, much like Creegan himself. The music which is fantastic (and by Nine Inch Nails) finds a cozy home here. The opening credits are far and away some of the best for a TV series I've ever seen.

Everything about this show screams style and depth. This is my new show to watch for 2004.
