Chicago – The best way, perhaps the only way, to enjoy the disaster movie “San Andreas” is to check your brain at the door, or better yet leave it at home for safekeeping. Bringing new meaning to the term mindless entertainment, “San Andreas” dares its audience to turn off their minds, and enjoy the ride.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is a helicopter pilot and military vet conducting search and rescues in Los Angeles. He’s also a soon to be divorced dad suffering with a sense of loss over a deceased daughter he couldn’t save. Meanwhile, estranged wife Emma (Carla Gugino) has moved in with an insanely rich new boyfriend Daniel (Ioan Gruffudd), just as their daughter Blake (Alexandra Daddario) is heading off to school. And just as his world seems to be crumbling around him, cue the earthquake that sends the world (at least L.A. and San Francisco) crumbling around him.

For the second consecutive year, Warner Bros. Pictures International has exceeded the coveted $3 billion mark at the international box office. This benchmark comes on the heels of the release of The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies, a production of New Line Cinema and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures, which surpassed $400 million at the international box office this weekend and is still going strong.
Nine Warner Bros. Pictures films have exceeded $100 million internationally, topped by Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar (with Paramount Pictures), which has taken in an astounding $467 million outside of the U.S. to date, and Godzilla (with Legendary Pictures), which has earned $327 million overseas.
Four titles – Doug Liman’s Edge Of Tomorrow (with Village Roadshow Pictures), Phil Lord & Christopher Miller’s The Lego Movie (also with Village Roadshow Pictures), and Noam Murro and Zack Snyder’s 300: Rise Of An Empire (with Legendary), along with the 2014 spillover grosses from The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug...

Let’s face it — every actor in Hollywood has to start somewhere. For some of your favorite actresses it means working the small screen as a video vixen. While it’s not uncommon for celebrities to lend their star power to music videos, several award-winning actresses’ first roles were music videos. At that time, they were just the featured extra or eye candy. For Angelina Jolie, that’s a long way away from her Oscar win for Best Supporting Actress in Girl, Interrupted in 2000. Back in 1993, she was the star of Meat Loaf’s video for “Rock ‘n’ Roll Dreams Come Through.”
In fact, the ‘90s were a pivotal time for the video vixen and for actresses getting much of their early work. Alicia Silverstone famously appeared in two Aerosmith music videos — one alongside Steve Tyler’s daughter Liv — before becoming the star of Clueless. Courteney Cox...

A movie starring Bruce Willis, John Cusack and Jason Patric sounds awesome. It’s the kind of line-up that film fans dream of. Between them, these three actors have starred in some of the most iconic films of the past thirty years, but, unfortunately, the trailer for The Prince undermines that excitement to the point of being almost off-putting – and there are two very simple reasons why.
The Prince tells the story of a mechanic with a questionable past (Patric), who is reluctantly drawn back into the shady underworld he once left behind when he finds that his old rival (Willis) has kidnapped his daughter. Working to rescue her, he must confront his past. Directed by Brian A. Miller (Officer Down), the film comes from a screenplay by Andre Fabrizio (Photo) and Jeremy Passmore (Red Dawn).
So, here’s the first thing that’s wrong with it – it’s nothing new.

Vdvo: Mystic Falls, wretched hive of scum and villainy. Race for the cure. Stop at nothing.
We open in the Mystic Falls High School gym where Sheriff Liz, the last remaining adult in Mystic Falls, is leading a mandatory memorial service for poor drowned Mayor Carol.
Because forced grief is the best grief
They're calling her death an accident, which since her blood alcohol level was somewhere between “legally drunk” and “Everclear” means her legacy will be roughly the same as Lupe Velez's. She calls for a moment of silence. Tyler can't deal and leaves.
Liz introduces the new interim mayor, Rudy Hopkins.
Oh dear, he's an adult, black and not Bonnie. He's a dead man. Why are they doing this at the high school and not City Hall or the Lockwood place?
Elena spots an un-daggered Rebekah lurking around the edge of the assembly and slips out.

The sheer volume of mainstream albums dropping this week makes our head spin like that ancient artifact, the vinyl record. Monday saw the release of Nicki Minaj's Pink Friday, Kanye West's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, Ke$ha's Cannibal, Jay-z's The Hits Collection Vol. 1, Lloyd Banks' Hunger for More 2 and My Chemical Romance's Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys. And Friday is the big day for Justin Bieber's My Worlds Acoustic.
Many may wonder why the bigwigs of the music industry would put out such a gargantuan selection all at once. But there's a precedent for this kind of strategy. In fact, music lovers have been through this very same overload dilemma a handful...
