A wonderful series

I really liked Chronicle when I was still at school and it covered history in the way I wish our teachers had done.

It covered archaeology and history from stone age to the Victorian period and did so in an accessible way without particularly dumbing things down (OK, a little bit but certainly not too much!).

Fortunately the BBC have some archived programmes on their web site...

Some of these programmes are a great reminder that Magnus Magnusson was far more than just the presenter of Mastermind.

Having watched the programmes on the web site, it is impressive that the BBC was prepared to back the Silbury Dig and to try experiments such as the Roman Goose March

excellent visual aid to the book holy blood, holy grail

I have only seen the third part of the Chronicle series, Shadow of the Templars, but excellent questions were raised. While many historians may conclude that the authors conclusions are without sufficient proof fascinating parallels are drawn nonetheless, such as the pentagonal geometry of five french villages, among them Rennes Le Château. After reading Holy Blood, Holy Grail I was left wanting more, and the third part to this series was an excellent visual aid to their black and white book. As fascinating as I find some of the places in question brought up in the book, I for one lack the resources to go to Europe to visit all of the places presented. Fascinating...anyone who got caught up in Dan Brown's novel, the Da Vinci Code, this series along with Holy Blood, Holy Grail is a must. I am currently searching for the first two parts to this series, The Lost Treasure of Jerusalem, and the Priest, the Painter, and the Devil.
