- A spoof of the Chippendales dance routine
- Imagine nine, peach-fuzzed young teasers in a milk and cookies spoof of the world's most famous all male dance troupe! Aaron, Simon, Sid, Kyle and their pals will gyrate their way into your heart and make you chuckle aloud at their puppyish exuberance and camaraderie. Watch the guys at rehearsal and later on stage, as they reveal some of their most exotic costumes and dance routines to an enthusiastic audience of female bubblegummers. Then meet these charming pre-teen dreamboys up close and personal, as they discuss their lives and passions, and then get wild in a spirited game of shirts and skins soccer—Jim Stark
- Please keep in mind I am writing this after viewing the video of the Chippendiddys, available at Amazon.com. There is a DVD with extras that I have not seen. Almost everyone who has heard of the Chippendiddys but not seen the whole video has a strong opinion about children getting exploited and behaving inappropriately sexual. When watching this video with an open mind a viewer will see both sides of the issue.
The video is a documentary which included a few dance routines (the ones you've probably seen) and a lot of interviews. We meet the boys for candid conversations about everything from football (soccer there) to performing at a girls birthday party to losing ones inhabitions to dance in this manner. We meet the parents who put the group together for their boys, thus boosting their confidence. And we clearly see how despite all the controvercy, these are just normal boys who also dance. They lead normal healthy adventurous lives and will probably grow up confident and strong.
This documentary is well made for an amateur film maker, and it doesn't spend equal time on every boy. This suggests to me that anyone not interested in being in the production was allowed to stay out. This film paints a piece of culture in another country where values are sufficiently different from those in America. It was not making any political points. It was merely sharing in documentary style their evolution from initial concept into a local phenomenon.
