Herbert and his wife Heidi have a daughter who is addicted to drugs. After rehab, 19-year-old Isabelle comes back home. She is to work in her father's store until she has solid ground under her feet again. Herbert tries to be understanding and patient with his daughter, but Isabelle soon relapses and takes off. Herbert blames Osman, a rock musician and colleague of Isabelle. An acquaintance from the bowling club advises Herbert to put Osman on the spot to find out where Isabelle is staying. Together they hire three petty criminals. They beat up Osman without finding out anything. Herbert comes under pressure when the police contact him. The thugs also demand an alibi from him for the time of the crime. Heidi distances herself from him when she learns what happened. Herbert becomes more and more desperate and isolated in his search for Isabelle. When he finally wants to turn himself in to the police, he receives a phone call. The criminals have taken Isabelle into their power. Now the father must fight twice to save his daughter's life.
