• Anachronismes: In the scene where Jean-Do is taken on a boat ride, A 'Speedferries' vessel can be glimpsed in the background. This company did not commence business until 2004 - years after the time in which the story is set.
  
  
• Continuité: In the scene where Jean-Do shaves his father, he shaves the moustache area and the shaving cream is removed, but in the next shot this area is covered with shaving cream again. In the following shot the father's upper lift is clean of shaving cream again.
  
  
• Erreurs factuelles: At the end of the movie, it states that Jean-Dominique Bauby died ten days (dix jours) after the publication of his book, but he in fact died two days (deux jours) after.
