The Blood God, or: How to Completely Ruin the Ending of an Otherwise Great Film, 19 June 2007
5/10

First off, I wish to thank everyone who deserves even a smidgen of recognition as having a hand in taking the ending with La Magra out of the movie. I think watching this featurette(which details the original ending to the movie Blade, and seeks to explain why it was left out of the final cut) got me to like Blade even more... knowing how it could have ended(quite like the original ending of Final Destination... my gosh, talk about cheesy(even if not compared to the current one, which rocks)). This has the four interviewees(including Goyer, who wrote all three films, directed the third(OK, that might not be something one wants at the very *top* of one's resume, considering the quality of it) and create as well as executive produce the series(ironically, he mentions both sequels and a television show as possible ways to expand the franchise)) talking about the (thankfully abandoned) original ending for the feature film; the concept itself is fairly silly. I could describe it myself, but it's something that should almost be experienced by each individual audience member(this is featured on the DVD for the movie). After describing it and talking about why it really, really didn't work, this featurette also shows us the atrocity that was the ending as it was originally conceived, leaving absolutely no doubt as to why it was cut and replaced with the awesome ending that the film has now. I recommend this to anyone who wishes to gain a deeper appreciation of the film and its ending, and some might also find the contents of this somewhat amusing. 5/10
