Anecdotes:

David Hess "Krug" from The Last House on the Left (1972), was originally cast in a major role and recommended friend Sage Stallone for the part of "Swan". After a week of shooting, the producer chose not to label the film a remake and replaced David Hess. Stallone quit, but was under contract which forced him to complete his scenes.

At the beginning of this film there's a statement that this film is so brutal because it's intended to educate. Oh really. After having seen it, it makes me wonder what exactly anyone was to learn from this, except that maybe cops are bad and folks should take the law into their own hands whenever possible? This plays like a kind of cautionary tale that's 2 parts "Last House on the Left" and 1 part "ABC Afterschool Special", as two girls get all dressed up to go out to a rave party. Of course one girl's parents aren't too keen on her doing this but they let her go anyway, thinking that all will be well if she comes home when they asked her to. Of course, at the party when the girls arrive, one feels the need to score drugs, so they wander off with some guy named Swan who leads them back to a house where there are three psychos just waiting for a couple of sweet young things to wander in. And you can almost guess what happens from there on out. Now, later in the day mom & dad are getting a bit antsy since their daughter hasn't shown up and they go looking, only to find the car, abandoned, and then later one of the girls. At that point the sheriff is contacted and then the film begins to pick up speed until the end and actually becomes fairly decent....in the last 10 or 15 minutes. Tbe psychos are ready to hit the road but their van won't start so they seek the hospitality of some locals who JUST happen to be mom & dad of one of the dead girls. And of course, dad has to break out the good chainsaw, the one they save for company. The last part of the film is not enough to redeem it from the first part though, but some may like this more than others. Definitely nothing that hasn't been done or seen before, just not since the 70's or 80's. 6 out of 10.
