Beware the blurb on the back of the DVD! The premise for Polisz kicz projekt (marketed in Anglophone countries as "Kitsch") is how to use cinema as a get rich quick scheme. The director (Pujszo) cajoles his friend (Aniol) into making a movie, not as an artistic endeavor, but for the sole purpose of making money. Together with their cameraman, a graduate of the Lodz Culinary Institute, they travel from town to town duping beautiful women into paying them for the privilege of starring in their flick. The idea is funny in principle, but in execution it is anything but. Benny Hill is not dead; he has reincarnated as Pujszo. The bulk of the movie consists of women running around - to nowhere in particular, just back and forth, in forests, in snow, on bridges... The "action" is occasionally interrupted with shots of Pujszo in Cannes, where is dissects his creative vision while comparing himself to Stanley Kubrick. This movie is impossible to spoil, since it doesn't have much of a plot, and it effectively lacks a climax. The Polish rap music playing over the closing credits is the funniest thing about this movie, and even that requires a few beers to appreciate.

Polish Satire, Excellent Filmography

This movie was made by an amateur producer in Poland for Cannes. The intellectual depth which Mariusz Pujszo displays, is nothing more than not having a clue about how to direct a film. It is a film within a film. The satirical elements transcend the language barrier. It is light, fun, musical, and hilarious. The Polish women are beautiful!!! It was funny how these women would do nearly anything to be in the film. The filming of the sex scene is one of the funniest things I have ever seen. The music video made me laugh so hard, I was rolling. I thought the filmography was well done for an amateur. It contains both black and white and color scenes. It is worth the rent if you are interested in independent films.
