It’s about time! Thirteen years have gone by since the release of Final Destination 5, but we’ve been hearing rumblings that another sequel was on the way for years. A while back, Jon Watts, director of Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far from Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home, came on board to produce the sixth film in the Final Destination franchise alongside Dianne McGunigle, Sheila Hanahan Taylor, and Craig Perry. Back in September of 2022, we learned that the duo of Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, who previously directed the 2018 film Freaks (starring Emile Hirsch and Bruce Dern) and the 2019 live-action Kim Possible movie, would be directing Final Destination 6. Last October, it was revealed that the film will be called Final Destination: Bloodlines… and now cinematographer Christian Sebaldt has shared an image that indicates Final Destination: Bloodlines will be heading into production soon! (If it hasn’t already.

Fandoms everywhere can now rejoice, for in October Our Flag Means Death finally returns to our screens for its second season. Rhys Darby and Taika Waititi will be romancing the high seas once more thanks to an enormous outpouring of love and support from the show’s fans. The safety of the cult favorite is not yet known beyond season two, but if this one is as good as the first, it certainly won’t be for lack of trying.

If during the Nineties, you were a male between the ages of puberty, and dead, it is likely that you actively sought, and consumed the movie Species. It was basically Aliens with lots of nudity. It was supermodel Natasha Henstridge’s first movie, and cemented her position in spank-banks the world over. Some people may be unaware that, a few years later they made a sequel, with Henstridge returning, though she’s a little less the main focus of the movie this time around. And, believe it or not, the sequel is regarded by many, as being as good as, if not better than the original. I’ll bet you wouldn’t believe me if I told you that they even went on to make two sequels after that, though one of them is just barely entertaining, and the final sequel in the franchise borders on unwatchable. Well, Scream Factory...

First up we have an early effort from comedy maestro Bob Clark (Porky’S, A Christmas Story… Ok, Ok, he die-rected the original Black Christmas and Deathdream too) titled Children Shouldn’T Play With Dead Things. Now, if you are of a certain age, you have doubtless seen this flick and know of its merits (or charming lack thereof), but for the majority of you, this is going to be your first time. So, much like that captain of the football team did on prom night, I’m going to gently ease you through this experience… or fondle you clumsily.

An all-star cast hunt down a female alien in 1995's Species. Here are 10 remarkable things about this very strange film...
Nb: this article contains some saucy language and imagery that may be considered not safe for work.
Director Jonathan Glazer's Under The Skin took a B-movie concept - that of the female alien seductress - and turned it into an arthouse masterpiece starring Scarlett Johansson. 1995's Species, on the other hand, positively revels in its trashiness, with a mutating lady monster (played by Natasha Henstridge) scurrying around Los Angeles and attempting to copulate with its populace.
At the time of release, your humble writer went to a local cinema to watch Species with a group of friends, purely on the basis that it featured some creature designs by Swiss artist Hr Giger - most commonly noted for his work on the classic Alien.

Scarlett Johansson gives a breathtaking performance as an alien femme fatale in Jonathan Glazer's mesmerising new movie Under the Skin.
Johansson's unnamed character inhabits the body of a young woman in order to lure male hitchhikers to their deaths, as she travels around Glasgow in her white transit van.
The silver screen has a long tradition of both spine-tingling and silly sci-fi seductresses, so prepare to be charmed by a few of our favourites below:
The Astounding She-Monster (1957)
"If you're not too afraid, make a date with a woman you'll never forget... a woman impervious to bullets....The Astounding She Monster!!!" warns the trailer for this 1957 sci-fi horror.
Shirley Kilpatrick played a beautiful yet highly-radioactive alien who lands on earth after accidentally crashing her spaceship. Unbeknownst to her, she's capable of killing with the touch of her delicate, bare hands, and begins stalking and unwittingly harming humans around her.

Well the anticipation is certainly building now, as our email accounts starts to get swamped with invitations to conferences and interview opportunities begin to cascade the Toronto Film Festival is incrementally gaining traction. Having combed through the programme with a microscopic glee I’ve identified three lists representing different tiers of interest and excitement, culled from the almost 300 films which are on offer over the ten days of festivities. We begin with the top-tier, the dozen films which represent a combined mixture of genre and cult movie anticipation alongside the potential breakthrough award courting material – the Argo’s and Silver Lining Playbooks of the industry if you will – with a brisk sentence or two to outline my interest in the sake of brevity – hopefully the trailer will speak for itself. So let’s begin in no particular order with an obvious big-hitter;

Midnight Sun NBC's Twin Peaks meets Northern Exposure cult drama set in Alaska just cast Michael Raymond-James as the second-in-command on the Alaskan police force. Raymond-James will be best known to FEARnet readers as having played psychopath Rene in season one of True Blood. After that role, I see him more as a cult leader than a lawman. Cult Robert Knepper (Heroes, Carnivale, Species III) plays the lead in CW's show-within-a-show. The story revolves around crimes that mimic a popular TV show called "Cult." Knepper plays Roger Reeves, the star of "Cult," whose show-within-a-show role is that of charismatic cult leader Billy Grimm. 666 Park...

"Hop" (featuring the voice of outrageous jokester Russell Brand as an Easter Bunny who poops candy) had the strongest opening weekend of any movie released thus far in 2011. The holiday-themed kids' movie enjoyed a $38.1 million opening, which is just a hair (or "hare"?) more than the $38 million debut of "Rango" five weeks ago.
Both flicks are rated PG. "Hop," which co-stars James Marsden ("X-Men") in the lead human role, earned the rating for some mildly crude humor, whereas "Rango," featuring Johnny Depp voicing a cartoon lizard, has some crude humor, a bit of cowboy action and characters who smoke.
"Rango" remains the better reviewed of the two, with 89 percent of critics finding it worthwhile, according to Rotten Tomatoes, which collects reviews from critics. "Hop" sits at just 20 percent on the Tomatometer at press time.

Duncan Jones made his presence known in 2009 with Moon, his first feature that astounded audiences with its intelligent science-fiction story and the early signs of a filmmaker to watch. Source Code was written by Ben Riley (Species III) and is Jones. sophomore outing as a feature filmmaker, but is also his first big-budget Hollywood flick. An independent film, Moon had a $5 million budget, a mere drop in the bucket compared to the $30 million upgrade Jones. earned to make Source Code.
Why is the budget so important? Well, its not. One thing Jones made clear to me once I saw Moon the first time, was that he had the ability to make the most of what he had to work with, but also deliver a compelling story without relying heavily on expensive CGI special effects. In Source Code, Jones continues to convince me that he focuses more on his vision and...

If you haven’t already seen 2009’s Moon, in which Sam Rockwell is a lonely lunar astronaut making discoveries about his own identity, I beg you to do so before you see Source Code, which will put you off director Duncan Jones, which wouldn’t be fair to you, to Jones, or to Moon. On the other hand, if your idea of a really good sci-fi time at the movies is something Roger Corman would have made for $4.98 in 1974 now given a megabudget and movie-star treatment but not as much thought or sass as Corman would have given it, check out Source Code. If it turns out to be your kind of explosiony action quantum-leaping cup of tea, you can then safely skip Moon, which you’ll hate. Jones inexplicably here decided to make his first Hollywood outing with screenwriter Ben Ripley, who wrote Species III and Species: The Awakening,...

Previously, Director Duncan Jones explored the moon with Sam Rockwell in 2009′s appropriately titled independent hit Moon. Now, Jones (son of David Bowie) has brought his science-fiction imagination to a location that holds its own beauty and mystery, Chicago.
His latest film, Source Code, which stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Michelle Monaghan, Vera Famiga and Jeffrey Wright, was shot in and around the Windy City. Not only does it feature shots of Chicago’s skyline, but it also features shots of the city’s unsung hero, the Metra line. For all of you midwesterners, be sure to look out for the Downer’s Grove, Skokie, Lagrange, Lagrange Park and Orland Park Metra stops when you catch Source Code when it opens on Friday, April 1st.
And for all of you that have visited Chicago before -- yes, there’s also a shot from inside the city’s curious tourist attraction, the Bean.

This is apparantely a new trailer for Moon director Duncan Jones’ sophomore sci-fi effort Source Code, but I can’t help but feel, like the conventions of the film itself, that I have seen this all before. And with Matt Damon’s Adjustment Bureau opening March 4th, maybe I will soon enough?
Source Code premieres at SXSW in just over two weeks and Summit have released this “new” trailer at AOL just to remind that this film exists and I imagine when it plays on March 11th, they will know for sure whether their Jake Gyllenhaal led film is one worth ploughing last minute marketing money into before it opens April 1st. Or maybe they are keeping their cards close to the chest in order to surprise us?
