French all-sex film lives up to its title
What you see is what you get in the French XXX opus LE BAL DU VIOL, which translates roughly to RAPE PARTY in English (my concoction). It has a revenge theme which makes it almost a real movie.
Jean-Pierre Armand toplines as the oversexed hero Ludovic, who is getting it on at every opportunity with an unnamed brunette actress (she was credited as "Nadia Welcome" on the version I watched, but is not mentioned in IMDb) until lovely blonde Christine Chavert comes home and takes over as his lady love Jessica.
Before anyone can whisper "let's scare Jessica to death", she is brutally raped in the bedroom at a party they're all celebrating, wearing weird masks. This rape footage, intercut with other sex scenes, goes on interminably, and Chavert is to be commended for actually keeping up the pretense of NOT enjoying it. Later in the film there is another rape scene, and the actress acquiesces after about a nanosecond, more in keeping with porno rules.
When Ludovic finds her post-rape, he vows to avenge Jessica. They easily track down the masked rapists, because they left their masks conveniently in the back window of their car (!). Only in porno are these narrative shortcuts trotted out as if they might be marginally convincing.
Anyway, with Jessica assisting, Ludovic finds the girlfriend (and a fiancée) of each rapist, and rapes each girl! The narrator chimes in with French for "mission accomplished" and we have sort of a happy ending.
This nonsense was directed by a peculiar filmmaker Pierre B. Reinhard, who has made some extremely weird (now THAT's a name for a video company!) movies, a lot goofier than this one. He likes to inject kinky elements, and in this one there is a disgusting looking obese guy who has sex at the party -I like to think it's Reinhard's cameo role! The most interesting thing about the film is actor Armand's amazing recuperative powers. He delivers quite a few money shots in succession, and if IMDb credits are to be believed, has to be credited with more while playing one of the rapists, too. (I know that makes no sense, but we never get to see the rapists without their masks, so it could be true.)
