My experience with this film is an interesting one, as I stumbled across the film's website months before I was able to see the film. All of Art Thief Musical!'s music is there for the listening on the website, and I must admit I got hooked on it before seeing anything. Andrew Kaiser's melodies are fun, catchy and well thought-out; themes blend well into each other for an overall sense of coherency and completeness that enabled me to feel a comfortable and well-planned plot arc without ever viewing the film! Mr. Lau's lyrics are just the right combination of serious introspection and playfulness, and at all times poignant. Don't be fooled by lines like "just sit the bar, girl, and wait for me/I'll be right back; I need to go pee"--this is hardly lousy writing; in fact I get the feeling that Mr. Lau is a writer who, although obviously possessing an impressive command of the English language and how to craft it well, isn't afraid to be a little silly sometimes. It is quite refreshing in an industry where people can take themselves far too seriously far too often.

When I finally did see the film itself, I was even more impressed. Great imagination and vision created the vivid scenes, especially the "casino" scene and the art museum. I applaud the use of symbolism in several scenes--the message registers and you know it's there, but it is tastefully subtle.

Excellent student film. Fun for all ages, and there's something for everyone. Suspense, violence, romance, a daring caper, and all set to music--who could ask for more?

A short, sweet escape from reality!

I originally discovered this film while searching the IMDb boards for information about Autmun Reeser, an actress who I had recently become a fan of when watching her on Season 4 of 'The OC'. I was looking through her filmography and the title, 'Art Thief Musical!' definitely stood out to me. So I decided to check it out, and am I glad I did!! It is 20 minutes of pure fun, a creation of fantastic imagination. The cast did quite an admirable job, but it is the lovely Ms. Reeser who really captivates the audience and keeps them hooked. Her crystal clear voice is a truly powerful instrument (and she is not hard on the eyes either!) The songs are catchy (I was especially impressed by the final number) and the various locations are truly unique. Also extremely impressive was the sweeping camera work that flowed well with the musical score. I commend Linus Lau for creating a mini- masterpiece, proof that various genres can be successfully blended together to create a truly original work. 'Art Thief Musical!' is truly a hidden gem.

Hear it to believe it

I'm not gonna lie - my performance in this film never fails to astound me. However, this would not have been possible without the ingenuity of Messrs. Lau and Kaiser, not to mention the other hundreds of thousands of people who helped make this film a feast of sight and sound. Just beware, the last song will get stuck in your head...FOREVER.

Whether it's a camera that moves with the fluidity of a riversnake that you're looking for, or a rich tapestry of harmony, or a hummable melody or great acting or beautiful people or great sets, costumes, props and effects, this film has it all. This is the film that ALMOST made me forget about "Intersectia."
