I knew to expect a B-movie, but was surprised by the quality of the script, editing and camera work. The vast majority of B-movies often start out pretty good but break down by the middle of the script. This one does not. DeCoteau does a decent job on his movies, as his reputation has earned, and this one does not disappoint. Paula Shaw puts in the best performance of the cast as Janine Gordon (the counselor), but Raquel Riskin was a surprising treat in her first lead role. She has a presence on camera, is a looker, and may be one to watch in future roles. Of course, the majority of acting may be B-quality, but so much of how a performer or scene comes across is due to the directing and, even moreso, the editing and post-production work all of which are directly related to budget. Shaw and Riskin, particularly, seemed able to rise above these obstacles and put in good performances nonetheless. This may be a low-budget film, but well worth the watch.
