crazy...sexy...cool...
FILM-FOOL26 November 2004
Warning: Spoilers
This film was a really pleasant surprise. I really didn't have any expectations when I saw it because nobody named Denzel or Halle was in the starring roles as black actors, but for what they had to work with, the whole cast held their own.

The movie starts off with seeing a young African American female moving into a new building. soon you find out she's coming from Chicago and looking for a new start after a a split from her husband As she, over candlelit dinner, tell a "new prospect" about what happened in her prior relationship, she re-lives the events (which were outrageous to put it mildly) that lead her to where she is now.

The whole movie is really about Lacy wanting to fulfill her fantasies through a personals ad, and her trying to "inadvertently" coax her naive, love-stricken husband Tony into bringing her desires to fruition. There's more to the plot but I don't want to reveal any spoilers, but there are some very hysterical situations that come into play when trying to put such a "sexy plan" into action.

The Lead actress Cassandra Finney was wonderful as Lacy. You really believed every word that came out of her mouth. She really is a natural when she is in her element. She is a beautiful black woman with oodles of charisma. The guy who played her husband Tony (David Bjorlie) was also very good. He didn't play the role in a way your would assume it would be played by some beefcake actor out of central casting. There is something really believable about what he brought to the role. Marilyn Williams as his psycho-ex girlfriend was funny as hell and she is excellent in this role. Wanda Christine was an absolute scene stealer as the abrasive, obnoxiously cheery neighbor in Lacy's new apartment. Evan Reynolds (from temptation island) as Keith fit wonderfully into the ensemble. B-Cole was funny as always. You might have seen him on various comedy shows on BET or Def Comedy Jam. Brandon Finney was the biggest surprise for me to find out that not only was he in the film and did a great job, but he also Directed, Produced, Written, and Lord knows what else. My hat is definitely off, and hope to see more from this talented young man.

All in all this was a really great experience and I'm glad I gave it a chance. It's a movie that I can relate to because they are regular people and not the botox-ed, pampered, spoiled, self-centered individuals that we have come to know as the Hollywood standard. If I had one complaint about the movie is that it was too short. But if you think about it thats not such a bad thing because some movies don't know when to quit they just go on and on and this one left you wanting more.

To sum it up, I highly recommend this movie.

Simply Marvelous

The cast and crew were tremendous. The film made a couple realities in a marriage come to life in a funny but real way. These things happen everyday-to-everyday people. You have couple where one of the individuals has second thoughts about being married to that person, and would like to be with someone else, but they do not want to cheat. The plan that was developed only brought more issues. The movie makes you wonder how many people live with the same situation and do not deal with it, or deal with and end up being hurt or hurting someone else. The movie was great and I enjoyed it very much. I cannot wait to see more from Eric Mayes and the other producers.
