When Hulu announced they were going to revive "Futurama" for a third time, the good news (everyone) was immediately chased by the bad news that actor John Dimaggio -- who plays Bender and numerous other characters on the show -- may not return. The actor explained in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) back in February 2022 that the studio didn't offer him enough money, but more than that, were seemingly dismissive -- in an unspecified way -- of the entire voice cast. This led to a month-long contract standoff wherein it looked like Dimaggio may actually quit the show and move on. This would have been unthinkable to "Futurama" fans, as Bender was one of the most important characters on the show, and having another actor -- no matter how good they were -- would seem like too large a change to accept.

The "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" musical episode rules. This was true when it debuted in 2001 and it's still true today, despite the ambivalence that now comes with being a "Buffy" fan in light of series creator Joss Whedon's extensively documented bad behavior. It took me a few years after allegations against Whedon dropped to find my way back to one of my favorite shows of all time -- and untangle the impression it had on me from the misdeeds of the artist most closely connected to it. But as Jamie Gerber pointed out in a 2022 /Film piece, there's a tremendous amount of talent worth celebrating associated with the show, from writers like Marti Noxon and Drew Goddard to performers like Sarah Michelle Gellar and Charisma Carpenter.
"Once More, With Feeling" is, in many ways, a showcase for what the show's performers can do. Like most of "Buffy" it's remembered for its snappy writing,...

If it wasn’t for the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, there’s a chance Jimmy Kimmel would be retiring. The ABC late night host spoke about his feelings about retirement on the first episode of “Strike Force Five,” the new podcast about the strikes from the biggest names in late night.
“As you know, I was very intent on retiring right around the time when the strike started. And now I realize like ‘Oh yeah, it’s kind of nice to work,'” Kimmel said. “When you are working you think about not working.”
Kimmel revealed that he first told Seth Meyers about his retirement plans privately. The late night host’s colleagues — Meyers, Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Fallon and John Oliver — echoed that they didn’t think the celebrity was serious about leaving ABC.

Australian satirist Barry Humphries, known for his onstage and TV drag persona Edna Everage and for his character Sir Les Patterson, has died. He was 89.
The BBC reported that Humphries had been in hospital in Sydney, Australia, and had been suffering from complications following surgery in March.
“A great wit, satirist, writer and an absolute one-of-kind, he was both gifted and a gift,” Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said following the news of Humphries’ death.
“Rip Barry Humphries – one of the greatest ever Australians – and a comic genius who used his exuberant alter egos, Dame Edna Everage and Sir Les Patterson, to say the otherwise unsayable. Also an infallibly brilliant Spectator contributor. What a loss,” said former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Twitter.

Laurie has officially dethroned Nate Jacobs as the most formidable villain on "Euphoria." We meet the high-school teacher turned drug dealer in the HBO show's season two premiere, when Fez does business with her following Mouse's murder. Laurie reveals new layers every time she appears on screen: she became addicted to oxycontin in college after getting injured as an athlete, she fronts Rue $10,000 worth of drugs to sell, and, as we learn in episode three, she's involved in some sort of sex-trafficking ring that she threatens to rope Rue into.
"If you screw me, I'll have you kidnapped and sold to some real sick people. I always find a way to make my money back," she tells Rue in a calm, monotone, nightmare-fueling voice. You definitely don't want to cross her.

ABC has tapped former “Late Late Show” host Craig Ferguson to host a new game show called “The Hustler.”
A trivia-based competition, each episode of “The Hustler” will see five contestants work together to answer a series of questions. One of the five contestants, “the Hustler,” will already know all the answers but must keep their identity a secret from the others in order to win the grand prize.
Throughout the episode, the Hustler will secretly eliminate other contestants one by one. If the remaining contestants can correctly guess who among them is the Hustler by the end of the episode, they will split the money. If not, the Hustler will take home the full prize themselves.
The show is set to begin production this fall with an air date to be announced later.

Although the Emmy Awards are following in the footsteps of the Oscars and going host-less in 2019, they're still keeping up one tradition: a voiceover announcer. So who's the snarky voice guiding the evening along with quips and "fun facts" about everyone on stage? That would be Thomas Lennon, a true multihyphenate who boasts credits as an actor, a screenwriter, a comedian, and an author.
Lennon's most successful and popular work is probably the Night at the Museum series of films, which he cowrote with Robert Ben Garant, his longtime writing partner. They're also credited with The Pacifier and the 2017 reboot of Baywatch. Although he's perfectly comfortable working behind the scenes, Lennon is also a veteran actor. His best-known TV role is as Lt. Jim Dangle on the Comedy Central series Reno 911!, which ran from 2003 to 2009.

Before she was the Duchess of Sussex and got married in the ceremony seen across the world, Meghan Markle was a young Suits actress doing late-night interviews. In 2013, she appeared on The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson, and the interview recently resurfaced following her fabulous wedding to Prince Harry. Just seconds into the clip and we're instantly captivated by her grace and charm - it's no wonder Harry is so enamored by her. Even then, she was meant to be royalty. Not only are we fascinated by Meghan when she talks about her education and working for the Us embassy, but the way she handles the host's awkward advances are worthy of an applause. Yep, check out the video above and prepare to cringe a little when Craig likens her to a "dolphin" with a "strangely hairless body."...

Carrie Fisher’s death at 60 years old on Tuesday sent shockwaves through Hollywood, as fans and actors alike reacted to the news of her passing.
“We just lost a great ally for mental health and addiction,” Margaret Cho wrote on Twitter on Tuesday. “Be strong, be as strong as she'd want you to be.” Cho’s tweet was one of many to recognize the void in mental health advocacy created in the wake of Fisher’s death.
The longtime actress, famous for playing Princess Leia in the Star Wars franchise, was also a celebrated writer and advocate, who used her celebrity status to create awareness for mental health issues and addiction.
“I’ve been in therapy since I was 15 years old,” Fisher frankly told Et, later revealing to The Guardian that therapy was “my only serious relationship.”

Bill Nye the Science Guy is about to educate and inform a lot more people the fun way again. Netflix is giving him a brand new talk show series set for Spring 2017. Bill Nye the Science Guy was a half-hour science program that aired on PBS and other networks from 1993-1998. It was a successor to things like Watch Mr. Wizard, Mr. Wizard's World, and Beakman's World. The show was great for a lot of reasons, the most important of course being that it got people engaged with learning science. The second, for me at least, was that it was hosted by a "geek" who was "cool." That might sound funny but as a kid who hid her geekiness, it was nice to see someone not just getting attention for theirs but paid for it. IndieWire reported this morning that the new series with Nye will be a talk show...

Mila Kunis made her first red carpet appearance Monday night in Hollywood since giving birth to her daughter Wyatt in October at the Jupiter Ascending premiere, looking gorgeous in a fitted Dolce & Gabbana corset dress. Pairing the sexy black design with t-strap heels and relaxed waves, it's safe to say Mila's never looked better.

Mila Kunis stole the spotlight when she stepped out wearing a black Dolce & Gabbana dress for the La premiere of Jupiter Ascending on Monday. It was the first red carpet appearance for Mila since she gave birth to Wyatt, her first child with Ashton Kutcher, in the Fall. The new mom gave her first postbaby interview on The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson in December, opening up about motherhood and joking that their daughter's teen years will be "daddy's problem." Meanwhile, Ashton has had plenty of sweet things to say about their child, too; when he appeared on The Talk, he gushed, "I kind of have a hero complex. I'm somebody's hero now." For Monday's premiere, Mila was joined by her costars Channing Tatum and Eddie Redmayne, who also attended the Oscar Nominees Luncheon earlier in the day. Keep reading to check out all the best pictures from the Jupiter Ascending premiere.

We did find it a little random just how unabashed Jay Leno was in remembering an appearance by Trista Sutter as being one of his least interesting Tonight Show interviews ever. And so did Trista! "After 10 yrs, ironic that I'm the topic of convo on @CraigyFerg last show. Thx 4 the shoutout @jayleno! Next time, plz mention my book. ;)," the reality-tv star (and author of Happily Ever After: The Life-Changing Power of a Grateful Heart) tweeted on Saturday after Leno dissed her during his appearance on the final episode of The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson. So, what did Leno say about the former Bachelorette? Let's just say, Sutter was on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno in 2003 and, while...

A billboard currently stationed outside CBS' Television City studio in Los Angeles gives thanks to Craig Ferguson for "10 years of joyous insanity," adding, "it truly was not like any other late night show."
That's not an exaggeration. The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson was the first talk show to feature a robot sidekick — the sassy skeleton Geoff Peterson — and a galloping mascot like Secretariat (actually two guys in a horse costume). And unlike most other hosts, Ferguson likes to interview guests in a freeform fashion, notably tearing up his notes at the start of each chat.

This week has proven bittersweet for fans of late night. Last night, Stephen Colbert ended his run on Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report, as he gears up to replace the retiring David Letterman sometime next year. But not getting nearly has much hype this week is Craig Ferguson ending his stint as host of CBS’ The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson, which airs tonight. After nearly 10 years (Ferguson started the show on Jan. 3, 2005), Craig Ferguson announced his retirement from The Late Late Show back in April, a few weeks after Colbert was tapped by CBS to … Continue reading →

There's nothing like getting into the holiday spirit with the help of Betty White and a purple hippo. The former Golden Girl visited The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson, where she was surprised by a choir, her favorite Christmas song, and giant dancing animals. The longer the clip goes, the more surreal it all becomes. But White's face is that of pure, unadulterated joy, and that's what's most important. (N.B.: Ferguson's run as host ends this week. Jay Leno will be his final guest, on Friday.)...

There was a baby boom in Hollywood this year, and those babies' mothers had a lot to say. ETonline breaks down the greatest new mother quotes of 2014!
1. Eva Mendes on vomit and the struggles of being a baby:
"I've learned that it's way harder to be a baby. Everything is a struggle for her. For instance, I haven't thrown up since the '90s and she's thrown up twice since we started this interview. Motherhood is cake compared to what it's like to be a baby." – The Violet Files
Mendes welcomed baby Esmerelda with Ryan Gosling on Sept. 12.
2. Olivia Wilde on the selflessness of motherhood:
"The amazing thing about becoming a parent is that you will never again be your own first priority. The gift of motherhood is the selflessness that it introduces you to, and I think that's really freeing... I think it allows you to put yourself in other people's shoes...the empathy...

On Wednesday night, Mila Kunis sat down for her first postbaby interview on The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson, and the famously private actress revealed a bit about her new life with daughter Wyatt. In addition to crediting breastfeeding with helping her lose her baby weight, Mila also said that Wyatt's difficult teen years will be handled by Ashton Kutcher. "That's not my problem," Mila said when Craig mentioned that girls get harder to raise when they become teens. "That's daddy's problem." (To be fair, he does have some experience with teen girls, as he was stepfather to Demi Moore's daughters for eight years.) Watch the first part of Mila's interview above, and check out how her parents kept her grounded during her own wild teen years below.

Sure, it would've been fun if Metallica had dug out some deep cuts for their weeklong gig on "The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson" – and don't give up hope, die-hard fans, because they could always pull one out tonight (although my money is on "Master of Puppets") – but the heavy-metal gods chose to stick to the classics, and it wound up serving them well. After kicking off the week with the first song they ever recorded, "Hit the Lights,...

Metallica promised to "shake the rafters" of The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson during their residency this week, and they kicked things off last night with a thunderous run-through of the first song they ever recorded, "Hit the Lights." The band played the song after sitting for an interview with the Scottish host, who will be leaving the show on December 19th, in which they talked about the re-release of their documentary Some Kind of Monster and joked about The Late Late Show's horse character having a coke problem.

How to Train Your Dragon 2 Digital Release Review

Jimmy Fallon, David Letterman and Seth Meyers all had repeats on Monday, October 20, so the pickings were a bit slim.
