Movie of fine acting
Petey-1011 September 2006
Kustaa III (1963) is based on August Strindberg's text.Mirjam Himberg directed it.A little about the main character, Kustaa III.He was the King of Sweden from 1771 to 1792.Finland was part of Sweden at that time.Because of him we have cities like Kuopio and Tampere here in Finland. This movie has the most excellent actors.Lasse Pöysti is Kustaa III and he does the part most brilliantly.Asta Backman is Queen Sofia, Joel Rinne is Pechlin, Matti Oravisto is Armfelt, Pentti Irjala is Olof Olsson, Seppo Kolehmainen is Anckarström, Kauko Helovirta is Munck, Sakari Jurkka is Thorild, Jalmari Rinne is Nordström, Kaarlo Juurela is Badin and Maj-Britt Heljo is Mrs. Schröderheim. All of them and all the rest, too, do amazing job in the movie.Without all those fine actors this wouldn't work at all.The whole play is based on those performances. This is also highly educational movie about those historical events and people. You watch and you learn at the same time.Sometimes learning can be even entertaining.
