Review of film

There is a review here of a person that saw the film at the New York Latino Film Festival and so I wanted to comment on that. I also saw the film at that festival. The film is obviously not a masterpiece, but it was well made. Like any independent film, there are always things you can criticize as far as actors and the low budget. My suggestion to the person that wrote the previous review is go make a feature film and see how difficult it is, especially when you're working with a low budget. What I recall from this film is that it really had a nice helicopter sound effect scene when the main character is busted by the cops. Yes, I probably would've never cast Mark Anthony as the lead, but he did a solid job with his acting ability. Remember he was the writer, lead actor, director and producer in this film so you have to give him credit. I'm actually surprised he hasn't submitted the film to Amazon and have the film available for rental. Mark it's easy just submit the DVD to them and do the paperwork on create space.

LIFE'S DECISIONS (Exclusive review)
mrrome126 August 2008
What up! Today I got something different for you. Today we'll be reviewing a movie you CAN"T see. Not yet anyway. Your boy Sapster had the pleasure of viewing a new exclusive copy of "Life's Decisions." Now you probably never heard of it (not yet) and you probably never heard of director Mark Anthony (Not the singer. Don't be cute). But...and your boy Sap can guarantee this...you definitely will. This man has a vision. First, I have to say that I love films shot in New York. Second, I love filmmakers who come from New York and show love to their area. I don't want to throw too much hype out there. It may be awhile before you see this. Let's get to the plot. The film follows a brother and sister in the Bronx. The brother, played by the director, runs a drug spot. The sister is a cop. DOWN HATERS! I know what you're thinking. Another low-budget movie about drugs and cops in the hood. Well...you're right...to an extent. Anyone can grab five friends, pick up a camera and run through the streets like Tony Montana (I actually did that myself. No lie) But...not everyone can make a GOOD movie about life in the hood. Mark Anthony trusted me with his film and asked for an honest opinion. He said tell the truth. Well, here it is - I liked this film. I liked the camera work. I liked the story. Yes, we have seen it before but Anthony brings something fresh to the table. But...I do have some problems. Mark is a great actor. No bullshit. He is a natural. So natural that he over-powers the female lead. When they're on screen together she doesn't have a chance. Also, in the beginning of the movie everyone is wearing a jersey. I thought I was watching an NBA practice game. I know thats what we wear in the street. It just didn't look right. And my biggest beef- the Italians. They were totally miscast. I'm going to ask Mark if I can play one of the Italians in the remake (Imagine the Sapster on the big screen. Sick!). Besides that, I thought the film was on the money. Brett Friedmann was excellent as the lead's partner. His character and Anthony's really stood out in the film. I never expected to see two natural actors in a film that cost twenty-five thousand. Yes. They're really that good. And there is a scene with one of the drug dealers and a Mexican kid looking for a job that is classic. The energy of that scene reminded me of "Mean Streets." Another low-budget classic that comes to mind is "Laws of Gravity." I love that movie. "Life's Decisions" has that same roughness. When it's finally released you need to check it out. This is the type of film that belongs in Tribeca. I went to Tribeca this year and saw two films. "Life's..." was better then both. LOOK FOR THIS FILM on DVD soon. And don't think the Sapster sold out on this one. I know talent when I see it. Which reminds me- Jennifer Storey is a vision. Sap is out.

Life's Decisions Was A Total Mess
elvelazquez19 July 2007
I saw this movie at the Latino Film Festival back in 2005 and I have to say it was painful to watch. The first thing I noticed was at the bottom of the screen it's stated the month August and everyone in the movie is wearing leather jackets, hooded sweaters, skully hats or winter coats. What the hell is that all about? A lot of the acting was like one of those really bad late night movies that you catch yourself watching at 3am out of boredom. The only actors that knew what they were doing were Gloria Irizary (mother to both Toni & Carlo) Diana Forero as Toni and Nicole Mc Cree as Jessica. They were the only reason why I didn't walk out of the theater. The rest of the actors should have just read their scripts on camera then maybe they could've put more thought & feeling into what they were trying to accomplish. Marc Anthony as Carlo (He's not famous or related to great salsa singer Marc Anthony) is overly dramatic. For example there's a scene when he starts crying and yelling like a wild animal that was completely over the top. I almost busted out laughing. There's a reason why this movie has never had the privilege of being aired on cable at 3am and it's also not available on DVD.
